Captain Plastic

The Safeco Field announcement of Captain Plastic and his Plastic Posse yesterday late in the game prompted this conversation with my wife:

Me: “He’s a superhero? Can he hit? Or pitch? Or play defense in center-field?”
Mrs. Z: “Probably not, or he’d have been promoted above captain by now.”

Was there a brunette with Captain Plastic?

If it was, then I’ll explain why I bring that up later.

    That’s better…

Brett Evert off waivers? Who is he. Why is he here. Why is he taking a roster spot?

Brett is from Salem. He’s a local boy! Can’t have too many locals on the Ms roster.

What worries me is that we have just picked him up. We have a double header. We may call up another reliever for the doubleheader. Do you see where I’m going with this? I hope it is Cha Seung that comes up, not him…

Rotoworld says he’s going right to Tacoma. They also say that he was once a prized prospect and has potential to be a good reliever.

Good, but what makes the world think he won’t be called up in a couple days? Hopefully my suspicion is incorrect…

Maybe we could make Captain Plastic an official position on the 40 man roster. I can think of a few Mariners who would be better served picking up plastic bottles. It would be a great rehab assignment and not to strenuous. If everyone would follow the “get lit for less” advice.

Oh! and according to the Mariners office. He is a super Hero. He has little or no baseball skills, works cheap, and a local boy. He meets all Mariner requirements.
