No predictions here
I’m not posting any playoff series predictions because I’m horrible at predicting playoff series. I mean, seriously, every year you’d do really well to pick exactly the opposite of what I picked. So I’m not touching these things with a ten foot pole. Instead, I’ll just sit back and watch good baseball the rest of the way.
That said, I don’t mind telling you who I’m rooting for. A hearty “way to go!” to the Twins for knocking off the Yankees tonight. I was happy to see the Red Sox top Anaheim today as well. I’ll definitely be pulling for Houston over Atlanta. In the other NL series, Cards-Dodgers, I could go either way (but I think Dave’s right, that St. Louis is just too freaking good).
We now return you to your regularly scheduled managerial debate… unless Derek decides to chime in with his thoughts on the post-season.

Well, I think the Cardinals are the best team overall- that offense just rocks. Even John Mabry’s hitting for them…
Not going to happen, Jason. I have to earn my bread doing a playoff preview for Baseball Prospectus. It’s all about the Jacksons.
I’ll revise my snap judgment and say Cards over BoSox in 6.
That was almost a religious lesson the Twins gave on defense last night. If they don’t complete a couple of the double plays and Hunter doesn’t make the catch, you wouldn’t know reading the box score this morning because there’d be no errors or unearned runs set down on paper for history but the Yanks would have gone off on one of them and won the game 5 or 6 to 2. No wonder Santana’s numbers are so good. He wasn’t even close to his best and he got himself a shutout anyway.
watching Braves – Astros. Is Dave Justice the worst commentator out there? He’s like the worst possible combination of Hendu and Magic Johnson. Should we got a poll going ? Worst color men? Hendu ? Justice? Morgan ? Rex Hudler ??
Valle. The color man with no color.
Somebody relay the “No Predictions” theme to Dave O’Brien and David Justice. All through the bottom of the 7th they were dying for Clemens to throw at Jones, “Okay, no Clemens is going to hit him here…just wait… here it comes… okay NOW Clemens is going to pitch him inside… he’s going to nail him…” And guess what? Clemens struck him out. Jerk offs.
