aaaand we’re back

“Donbot, I beg you, I can’t make this week’s loan payment. Look into your hard drive, and open your mercy file!”
“File not found.”
— Futurama

Okay, so it looks like I got this thing back up, though there’s a file missing, uh, the settings are all still the default — there’s still much to be done.

I like the name preceding the comment, too. I’d favor having the date on the same line, instead of taking an entire line to itself, separating the author and text that much. But things aren’t done, and being a UI designer, I recognize I’m annoyingly nit-picky about things.

I used to agree that one should read all the previous comments before posting, but lately there have been so many previous comments (sometimes approaching a hundred)–as one person after another must say what’s on his/her mind–that it’s difficult to read every comment before posting.
So occasionally we will see something–such as a posting of an observation that’s already been observed (and posted)–that seems out of place .
Let’s roll with the punch, and realize that we’ve brought it on ourselves.

This quote from ESPNs game wrap reminds me of this thread:

“Hargrove was elated by Putz’s performance, particularly the 6-foot-5, 245-pound right-hander’s fastball.

“He has a really nasty sinker,” Hargrove said of Putz’s fastball. “I was not aware it was that good. That’s what spring training is for, to get a chance to see what people have got.””

And I just double-ridiculous forgot that a sinker is a fastball. No commenting for me for 24 hours.

I’ve been tinkering with this today. May be a while before I figure out how to pull that off, it’s harder than it initially would appear to be.

Also on the Donbot line: the thing that cracks me up about it is that the voice is so perfect making that stupid computer error sound like it’s a portent of doom. He might have said “Abort, Retry, Fail?” and I’d have laughed almost as hard.
