Game 46, Mariners at Orioles

DMZ · May 26, 2005 at 3:51 pm · Filed Under Game Threads

I just got back from the dentist’s office, where they ended up shooting my mouth so full of numbing agents I can’t feel half my nose (that’s not a joke). I hope this will increase my enjoyment of this game.

RHP Ryan Franklin v RHP Daniel Cabrera
4:05, KSTW (11) for TV.

It is my great hope that as Sele tossed his complete-game shutout after I wrote a PI article fingering him as the worst in a stinky rotation, Beltre will tear it up for the remainder of the year after today’s examination of his ill start.

As this question seems to come up repeatedly in every thread, let me say that it’s John Marzano in the booth, offering a weird mix of insight and worn-to-transparency cliche.

I think Rizzs is having a hard time following Marzi. He’s not used to hearing baseball insight during a broadcast. That’s why he keeps giving Marzi questions like “So tell me about your Little League experience, Marz”, and “how’s that Baseball Academy for kids going?”

Go for it Matt!!! Have one for the team, they need it.

  3. Laurie on May 26th, 2005 6:27 pm

That was a good campaign, Jeremy – at least you did your best, which is more than anyone in the Mariners organization could say that year.

  4. matthew on May 26th, 2005 6:27 pm

Randy Winn was on the 95 team?

  5. Jeremy on May 26th, 2005 6:29 pm

    I tried, Laurie.

But hey, I’m watching these games expecting to see something I’ve never seen before. That’s what Hendu told me.

This offense is so bad that I actually miss Jolbert Cabrera. He would have been an upgrade offensively and could have played a bit of short. It was a sound decision at the time, but with the injuries, he would have been a solid bench guy. Who knew finding average bench talent would be so difficult for this team?

Jeremy–that picture on your blog is really damn funny. I think anyone who has not yet done so ought to click on Jeremy’s hyper-linked name there and check it out.

    REEEDDD!!!

  11. Laurie on May 26th, 2005 6:33 pm

That was it! Something new, just like Hendu said. And Marzi is SO excited that he finally got to see something exciting!

  12. RL on May 26th, 2005 6:33 pm

    Who won the bet?

  13. Matt Williams on May 26th, 2005 6:34 pm

Apparently all we have to do is bitch and they’ll score.

That or dump a bunch of players and let the youngsters play. Actually, that seemed to work very well lat year…

  14. MacMariner on May 26th, 2005 6:34 pm

    WHEY GO REEDER!! Congrats youngster.

  15. Jeremy on May 26th, 2005 6:35 pm

Well hell. I just saw something I’ve never seen before.

A home run by a Jeremy that’s better than me.

    Congrats, kid.

So Reed’s off the list, then.

#207 Will, thanks for the kind words.

It’s the Pump, where I put the three lowest batting averages on the team up on a gas station sign. This month, it’s Texaco. Also doubles as a game thread too.

Hunting for the obscure tidbit, Ichiro is on pace to break Harold Reynolds’ single-season triples record. I know, it’s a strain.

  19. patnmic on May 26th, 2005 6:55 pm

At this point don’t we have to change things up? We made the last 3 Orioles’ pitchers look like Cy Young candidates! The bats are dead. Don’t we have to look at Don Baylor and ask is he the guy for this job? Shouldn’t we be releasing Valdez, sending the 12th pitcher down and bring up some of the guys performing in Tacoma? We’re almost 50 games in and there’s still no sign of life from our offense what are they going to do?

Is it time to flip Beltre and Ibanez in the order?

  21. Baltimore M's Fan on May 26th, 2005 7:07 pm

I witnessed a sweep. This SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. DB Cooper on May 26th, 2005 7:16 pm

After today’s play, the M’s are on pace for a 63-99 record…somewhere Bob Melvin is shaking his head.

Another Corcoran impersonator. I’d like if he were deleted.

I just got back ,I have a 10 page paper due tomorrow that I need to write 5 more pages for, so I ddin’t have time for the gamethread.

I won’t accept bait, so no weather response from me. But it is good to see that I am missed.

    #75 # 77
I know I am late but I just got on line. If the conversion mentioned in # 75 took place today that wasn’t Valle it probably was Marzano. Valle didn’t travel with the team this trip. He stayed in Seattle for family reasons and is not part of the game braodcasts..

    “Marzi reminds me of Homestar.”

Derek, that is the single funniest thing I’ve read in weeks.

Darnell Coles will be the analyst for the Tampa Bay series.

    DJC,

Just email them when there is an imposter post of you. It’ll get cleared up and whoever is doing it won’t get the joy of annoying you.

How much blame should put on Hargrove for the Mariners dismal start to this season?
