LHP Jamie Moyer vs. RHP Chris Young, 5:05pm, FSN and KOMO.
Also known as, “Killing time until King Felix starts again.” It’s funny because it’s true.
RF Ichiro!
2B The Ignitor
LF Ibanez
1B Sexson
3B Beltre
CF Reed
“DH” Dobbs (it worked last time)
SS Betancourt
C Joe Jessica
Wee Willie still doesn’t get his much-needed day off. One of these days the poor kid is going to collapse under the pressure of carrying the team on his back these last six weeks. He’s hitting “right around .333” during this stretch, eh Ron?

Folks you will not see Bucky this summer the big man can barely run to 1stbase his knee is still screwed up i just watched him play for a week and he isnt healthy.I was wondering why the mariners optioned him now i kow so they wont have to pay him ml salary for his injury cheap skates.I FEEL BAD WATCHING HIM RU N HE IS HURTING BADLY.
and it has been mentioned many times since the start of the season that they want (not just need) another left-handed bat with power over the off-season….
the trouble is somebody in the front office actually has to find “replacement level players”
This is the same batch o guys, led by Bavasi, that signed McCracken, Aurilia, Spiezio and the rest of them. Only big dollar signings Beltre (kinda) and Sexson have worked out. The rest of their “talent evaluation” has just been remarkably bad.
So yeah you can argue replacement level, but who in the M’s front office even knows that that is, when they’re out signing the next batch of ‘proven veterans’ to come in here and hit .200 ?
Also maybe we should consider Bohn (http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Bohn%2C%20T%20%20CF&pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&did=milb&pid=454533) for 4th outfielder position. He has speed and pop and can play all of the outfield (currently CF in Tacoma)
And the M’s should DFA Nelson now and replace him with Atchison (7 IP 10 Ks). I think he can become a reliable K guy out of the pen.
Well, the M’s already have Betancourt hitting at replacement level to get rid of Valdez’s large negative contribution, and they’ve got Torrealba, who’s been about replacement level for his career. Ojeda’s below replacement level, but if he was the full-time backup, I doubt he’d get quite as much playing time as Olivo or Borders did as the primary option. It’s tough to be as bad as Spiezio was this year, so just DFA’ing him was half the battle there. I mean, even Spiezio isn’t as bad as Spiezio was this year.
I wouldn’t say the front office has a great history at finding replacement level guys on the cheap, but they seem to have done a decent job at stopping the bleeding for next year at catcher and shortstop, which have been huge black holes at times this year.
Kids, can’t you all say something nice about anyuone? Compare Cammy’s BA with Chicago then with Reed, then make a judgement. I love our M’s there so #$#@ good.
Ernie
Here’s a breadcrumb for those who think we missed the boat on Ryan Howard, from the Associated Press:
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)  The kid is already being compared to David Ortiz.
Rookie Ryan Howard returned to the starting lineup with a career-high four hits  including a homer  and three RBIs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies past the San Francisco Giants 10-2 on Tuesday night.
“Howard is impressive,” Giants manager Felipe Alou said. “He moves well around the bag. He’s a David Ortiz-type man.”
Bohn just arrived in AAA slightly over a week ago, I don’t think he’ll be in the show unless we face 5-8 injuries (knock wood).
Cheap replacement level pitchers Mads ,Sherril and Harris all signed by kerfeld one of there only guys who vcan evaluate talent and he was let go are left..cgh cough….No this group in the front office does not no talent.
