Game 141, Orioles at Mariners
RHP Rodrigo Lopez vs. RHP Jeff Harris, 6:05pm, KOMO & KSTW.
The Mariners may have mailed it in for the season, but here at USS Mariner labs, we promise a fresh game thread each night!

I’d honestly forgotten about Jeff Harris. Talk about tough to please — one bad start and I’ve already moved on.
If there’s one guy to watch for tonight, it’s Baltimore 1B Walter Young. Young is listed at 6-5 and a massive 320 pounds, so it’s unlikely you’d possibly miss him out there. Already 25 years of age and fresh off a .288/.334/.438 season at AAA Ottawa, he really isn’t much of a prospect. And for a guy his size, you’d think he could have managed more than 13 homers in 466 at-bats. But forget all that — I’m most intrigued by how he managed to hit a triple this season. The mind boggles.

#299– this is all I ever found; let me know if you saw more:
07/25/2005 Notes By Jim Street / MLB.com
Would Moyer accept a trade to a team with the best chance of playing in the World Series?
“I would love to play in a World Series,” he said, “but nothing is guaranteed.”

July 26, 2005 — PI Mariners Notebook:
At 42, Moyer has one goal left: “To play in a World Series,” he said. Toward that end, he’s planning to pitch one more season. Like Nelson, he can’t be at all sure he’ll be pitching in Seattle, his adopted hometown. There is some speculation the Mariners might try to trade him, then re-sign him for next season. He has “no idea” if he would consider returning to the Mariners next season if they traded him now. But he did say his plans call for one more season of work.

Any trade likely would be to a contending team, however, which would give Moyer a chance to return to the postseason.
“I would love to play in a World Series,” he said. “But (a trade) doesn’t guarantee it. I enjoy playing here, too. We’ll see where it plays out, if anything plays out.”
Final Fantasy VI was the best FF game.
Those pickup lines are AWFUL. Almost as awful as watching tonight’s game was.
I think Ichiro was totally celebrating Infield Singles Night, yeah.
Did anyone mention here about the stupid “Dating Game” thing they did on the dugout around the 8th inning? A girl had to pick a guy based on the question “What song describes you?” and they got free tickets to the Hit It Here Cafe together for a date, or something. It was pretty dorky.
12 hours until Felix! I really shouldn’t go to an afternoon game right after a night game, but ah well. I probably won’t be checking in on the game thread from the stadium tomorrow, though. If a Felix game isn’t worth watching, that’s a problem.
A final lame pickup line in honor of Singles Night at Safeco:
“Would you like to come back to my place and help me put on my Mariner Moose costume?”

I’m curious what the best and worst possible answers would be.
How about “Act Naturally” by the Beatles for worst?
FFVI falls completely apart in the second half. I think there’s a Seahawks analogy to be made here, but I can’t seem to find it.
FFVI’s 2nd half is still oodles better then what happened in Chrono Cross or Xenogears.
I lost money playing poker. The Mariners lost. The Buckeyes lost. The Broncos lost. My car sprung a coolant leak. I found out that the girl I am interested in is taken. You’re right DMZ, it’s bad karma. How I regret not going.

I dunno, I loved playing all the various ways through the second world of FF6… I usually haaaaaate sidequests and whatnot, but I actually bothered abusing the Coliseum for random items, and I think I even spent a full day scumming around the dinosaur glade trying to beat up a brachiosaur to get an Economizer. Man, those were the days… having the time to just sit around and do that.
The music was best in FF4 though, hands down, even before they went and made the Celtic Moon recording of it.
305: DMZ — actually, I thought the best response was the guy who said his song was “Too Shy” by Kajagoogoo. I would have totally picked that guy, at least. I forget what the song was of the guy she actually picked. Something corny like “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” or whatever.
I enjoyed it back in the day, but reflecting on it now I realize what poor design it was. In the first half you had such a nice tightly wound narrative and gameplay that flowed with it and in the second half you’re left on your own. The story suffers for it a lot I think.
Deanna she didn’t get to pick, it based on the fans that were there. How loudly they applauded, at least thats the way I understood it.
Went to all 3 games this weekend (FRI, SAT, SUN) drove up from Oregon, it pretty much sucked lol….
