Saturday: Me and Jonah Down by the Schoolyard
Well, actually, at Third Place Books in Seattle, at a joint Baseball Prospectus/USSM event tomorrow night. Besides myself and the talented Mr. Keri, there will be the ever-popular Special Guests To Be Announced.
The event will herald the release of Mind Game (which was airplane reading for one of my Vegas crew) and will be a chance for Jonah to preview BP 2006. I have a softshoe routine planned, or possibly karaoke. If you’re so inclined, come by to talk baseball with us and our secret pals.

I’m kidding about the karaoke.

Wow, off-topic right from the get-go … in a way, that’s impressive.
Unfortunately, boys, I have to work for Mama Pajama and the radical preacher on Saturday. But I did order the book.

Sing the praises of facts. Just because morons say it, do not make it so.

Where’s the off-topic delete me zapper?
Man, now that you’ve publicized the event, I’ll probably have to fight for a good seat :). See you there.
To save others from looking up directions, either I-405 North to 522 West or I-5 North to 145th East to 522 North (East). Third Place Books is at the north end of the lake.

There’ll also be giveaways. Plus a preview of another (awesome) book not yet mentioned that those Beltway Fat Cats don’t want you to know about.
All this and Andy Rooney…
I’ll be there after suffering through all four hours of Messiah on Saturday afternoon. I can provide the karaoke entertainment if necessary. I have groupies in three states who can vouch for me. :0)
I hope this hasn’t been posted elsewhere, but is there going to be a USSM feed this year?
Just to help out….Third Place Books is inside the Lake Forest Shopping Center right on Bothell Way. Enter the center, and take the escalator to the second floor.
If you see an Albertson’s, you are in the right place. There is also a large Starbuck’s right in front of the Center…..plenty of free parking.
9 – bah, that’s nothing. I went through 8 hours of it last weekend. On stage. Singing. It’s important to go baroque for the holidays.
But, yeah, I’ll be at Third Place to heckle as well. I do have to wonder if Jeff’s reference to Karaoke is really just saying he’ll be doing his impression of Jolly Rick Rizzs instead of Evil Rick Rizzs?
(blame PositivePaul for that link, not me)

Matching Ryan Franklins for the holidays, hooray!

[edited, Washburn has his own post now, please don’t post the full text of articles, thanks]
I’m sorry to have to miss this one, too. Enjoy the surprise guests, free stuff, and sneak previews, all.

At the USSM Feed this year will we get to pick over the carcass of our 2006 pitching staff? I hope not, we’ll all starve.
I won’t be able to make it, so I hope you guys take good notes. If misery loves company, tomorrow’s get together should be the platonic ideal of fellowship and camraderie.
I sure hope the special guest is a group therapist.
let us know how it all went– me, I’m baking.
Sadly, there was no karaoke. It was wonderfully entertaining, of course, as one would expect from a talk featuring Jonah and Jeff (but no Derek, boo). We got printouts of Jarrod Washburn’s PECOTA charts for next year, and the TOC of this book which we all apparently need to pre-order, because Jonah was able to answer 80% of the questions asked with “There’s a chapter in THE BOOK about it!” They hung out for a long time afterwards and chatted with those of us who stayed around. Lots of fun.
I was tempted to wear my Washburn shirt, but figured I’d get lynched.
