Felix article at Baseball Prospectus

From the Department of Don’t Miss This:
Jonah Keri has a 2,800-word, link-laden subscriber-only article up about King Felix at Baseball Prospectus as of yesterday. The Felix-love flows around here like ouzo at one of Socrates’ parties, so I’ll leave belaboring that point to Jonah.
Suffice it to say, Felix Hernandez is one of the best reasons to be very excited about watching baseball this season.

Aaarrg! Cheap-meter is preventing me from reading the rest of the article.
easter chic yourself to risk 4.99 for a trial month and you’ll see how you simply can’t afford not to be a subscriber….
All the interesting story lines run up the center of the diamond this year. Johjima, Felix, Betancourt/Lopez, Reed. Yeah, we have the reliable greats in one corner (Ichiro doing his thing, Sexson doing his) and the enigmatic-to-disappointing in the other (Beltre and Ibanez) but really, all the fun with the unknown ceiling is up the middle.
Felix keeps popping up in asides over at BP, as well. Rany mentioned him today.
There’s one passage in Jonah’s piece where my heart was in my throat. You’ll know it when you see it.
isnt it nice to be getting excited about up the middle?
FWIW, I’m pretty sure Socrates would be serving sweetened wine.
… with a hemlock chaser, no doubt.
To steal a line from a movie.
“In the immortal words of Socrates, I drank what?”
Thanks for the headsup. I don’t check BP every day.
Real Genius is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Nice use of one of my favorite quotes, Rain Delay.
That it is Joe, that it is. 🙂
That, Jonah, is one of the best pieces of fictional writing (hopefully fictional in some parts hopefully not in others haha) that I have read in a long time, thoroughly enjoyed it!
