I apologize for using the word oriental. I didn't realize it is considered an offensive term to asians. I have been out of touch with academia for so long that I have a tough time staying politically correct and sometimes I unkowingly slip up. I will now refer to all people from the East as Asians. Just to get back at me you can call me a honky whenever you want.

#236-- not realy a swipe; well, a swipe but a humorous one-- Dunn & Griffey are apparently very good friends (hear it as a Buhneresque comment)

But I don’t want him to take your class, I just want him to stand up in front of your students and rap on physics for a minute or two.

Unfortunately, the damage Carl could do in a minute or two would take me weeks to fix. It's too bad, because an extra hundred dollars here or there certainly wouldn't hurt.

As long as you film it, it would be worth it. But I don't want him to take your class, I just want him to stand up in front of your students and rap on physics for a minute or two. That's all I ask.

"Did he really say that? Classic. Someone at the UW should invite him to speak at their physics class."

Speaking as a teaching assistant in physics at the UW, I'm going to have to say that if Carl was in any of my classes, I'd have to fail him. It would be difficult for me to do, since he would probably protest loudly, and is a much larger man than I am, but the lucrative settlement from the assault charges would make it all worthwhile.

I will give you a hundred dollars cash if you go find Carl Everett in person, anywhere, anyplace, and ask him with a tape running what he thinks about fluid dynamics.

I know it's a load of bullwah (all those fluid dynamics courses at the UW were good for something) -- but I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and guessed that's what he was misremembering.

OK, this is an absolute Carl Everett CLASSIC — in a clubhouse interview on the radio, he said “All home runs are accidents… according to physics, it’s supposed to be impossible.”

Actually, I'm having trouble figure out that quote on a few different levels. If it was impossible to hit a home run, but you did anyway, wouldn’t that be a miracle, not an accident? Or was Everett saying he meant to bunt?

To clarify:

Miracle: Doing the physically impossible - Example: Dan Wilson hitting an Inside-the-park Grand Slam. In the Kingdome.

Accident: Unintended action, usually with negative consequences - Example: putting yourself on the DL tripping on your luggage.

Mistake: Intentional but erroneous and possibly ill-considered action - Example: walking Ibanez to get to Sexson. Example #2: Spezio, Scott. Mariner’s contract with. (see also Disaster, Blunder, Faus Pas).

But yes, if you hit home runs, you can call them whatever you like.

I like this offense!

243: For what it's worth, the idea that physicists say that bumblebees shouldn't be able to fly is also a load of bushwah.

As long as C-Rex keeps hitting the ball out of the yard he can talk crazy after the game all he wants.

Actually I think there was an article somewhere a couple years ago where some physicists were trying to measure the force it took to hit balls out of PacBell Park into McCovey Cove, and they kept coming up with calculations that made it look physically impossible. Maybe Carl thinks he's Barry Bonds or something.
