In the lead to this discussion, I presume that Thiel didn’t mean that Everett would literally catch fire. Which suggest the question: might eternal damnation for Everett involve his spending all eternity as an paleontologist?

Are we sure that it is? Are we so sure that Ichiro is wrong about which way he helps the team more?

I’m not.

Ichiro has pulled almost zero, perhaps actually zero, prima donna stunts in Seattle his whole career here. Even as a pseudo-rookie he agreed to wear the Hooters outfit on the flight, etc.

I mean, here is a guy in a postion rivalling Barry Bonds in his lock on a franchise (considering ownership as well as ability and popularity) and I’ve never seen him look like he was reaching to cash that chip.

So Finny is saying trading Guardado *hurts* our chances?

Personally, as one who was a firsthand witness to Carl’s night in the outfield (from the third deck, no less), and as one who also found it strangely entertaining, I would love to see Griffey play center at Safeco.

Wow, Finnegan’s little rant about Guardado has to rank among all time stupid complaints about a baseball decision. Does he watch the same game we do? I’m sure all of you more seasoned readers of his are used to this kind of thing, but I’ve mostly managed to avoid him.

Again, who can figure these guys out? It appears they are rushing Adam Jones to the majors but won’t promote Doyle who everyone and his dog knows is ready to take Carl Everett’s job?

I wonder if Bavasi gets any sleep at all.

Even Thiel is now asking for Doyle’s promotion, what’s taking Bavasi so long? This is being premature and paranoid, but doesn’t this having the makings of Edgar Martinez all over again?!
