Game 153, Mariners at White Sox
I was on vacation there for… about a month. During that month, here’s what I understand happened:
-Ichiro, who once refused to play centerfield when the team needed him to, began to play centerfield because the team needed him to
-Doyle, who I’ve followed, cheered, and agonized over for years, became a fairly regular right fielder, and hit like I’ve always insisted he could
-Bloomquist, who sucks, somehow has stolen playing time from Doyle
-Rohn, who started the season as the backup manager, got fired
-So did the bench coach, who is nominally the strategy guy
-But Hargrove still did stupid things
-Moyer got traded
-Pineiro got demoted to the bullpen
-Baek is starting
-Woods is starting
-and so forth
What’s worse, it’s almost impossible to get any kind of internet access as a traveler in Europe, so I’d spend my purchased internet/hour on book work and then, right at the end, have a couple minutes to follow the team. So my first chance to really catch up on the team was yesterday night after I spent ~20h on planes or in security lines at airports. I felt at first that I’d fallen asleep and was having a brie-induced nightmare, but no, here I am, writing a game thread intro home, Woods v Vazquez.
5:05. FSNW. I have some fine American beer waiting, and I’m so excited to see this meaningless game.

Beeeelllllllltrrrrrrrrrrrreeeee!
Ozzie lives for that so he can at least say he has “attitude” (just like C-rex)
I think the fact that the ump didn’t throw Logan out shows that no one thought it was intentional.
the boy from Renton just made this game even better.
97, 99: Thanks
Beltre!!!
Beltre!!!
Beltre!!!
Beltre!!!
100: Apparently the White Sox.
96: I just tuned in, so I didn’t know that. The Mariners should hit another one of their guys then.
Wow, we’re kickin’ ass.
R.I.P.
Chicago White Sox 2006 Season
April 2, 2006-September 21, 2006
So why does it take Beltre 3 months every year to warm up into the player we think he could be?
just wait ’til you see what we do to the A’s!
That was a really nice story about Dave Valle…expecially because it makes me dislike him a lot less as an announcer.
c’mon Joel, don’t give anything back.
Beltre has to be just about the streakiest hitter ever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hitter who can look pitcher-bad at times and can carry a team on his back for weeks at a stretch at others.
mop-up time is appropriate for the pinata
all of a sudden it sounds like a spring training game
“and hitting now, who is that?”
“Cintron?”
“Cintron”
“and Ross Gload coming out on deck, I believe…”
Are we allowed to be happy about this game?
Does anyone have Farmers Insurance?
Only 3 games out of third place.
Putting the final nail in the coffin on the Sox’s season wasn’t nearly as satisfying as putting one of the first nails in the coffin on the Angels’ season. But it was kind of like watching yourself, from the safety of some kind of weird parallel world, get the crap kicked out of you by someone you know is a pussy.
#116– not since high school, which was a long time ago. They did give me a ‘good student’ discount, but fortunately I never had to deal with them about anything else…
Raul hoped that Eduardo’s pratfall replaces his Fenway splat in 2006 baseball lore
So then I can say: Farmers Insurance the insurance company for hillbillies.
It’s still live David. It’s not just life in Tacoma.
nah, what happened is that I am unable to post from my laptop, but when using a different desktop with the same IP range, I am capable of posting. I was just verifying for sure that my ability to post wasn’t hampered by mod queue (as DMZ said), and that it was on my end (as DMZ said), and that the problem is on my laptop (not the UPS server)
This is really weird. But I’ll be in California for the enxt couple days, so I’ll fix it then.
If anybody has any ideas (?) email them to me at davidjcorcoran@gmail.com
I tried un and re installing all browsers and deleting all tifs/cache/cookies
