I often think of the Mariner Management when I listen to Desolation Row. Of course, the Hunchback of Notre Dame is a dead ringer for Billy Beane:

“And he’s spoonfeeding Bill Bavasi…the boiled guts of birds”.

    Stuff like that.

I can’t remember the lyrics exactly, but I often think of Lauren and “what’s a sweet girl like you, doin’ in a dump like this?”. 🙂

“Like a Rolling Stone” should be the theme song for the last five years of Mariner baseball.

Hey Derek, is it possible to get a list of everyone who’s coming?

I dunno, but sometimes I feel like drinking one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer after a Mariner game (Hooker, not Thourogood, thankyouverymuch)

    “Loser”, Beck.

Okay, sure – horribly offensive band name, but one of the best song titles ever.

Wow, now I don’t even know what the original prompt was that brought me to mind. All I see is the update about the feed being full.

    Edumacate me!

  14. DMZ on October 12th, 2006 2:24 pm

I don’t know what it was, either.

As to a possible list of attendees — I could, I guess, but I won’t. I’d feel bad disclosing w/o prior agreement from people.

Heh. Or a song title I used in a recent comment on another USSM thread (with, of course, a slight M’s-related twist):

“A Simple Desultory Phillipic (Or how I was Howard Lincoln’d into Submission)” by Paul Simon.

“Stuck in the Middle with You,” Steelers Wheels.

Well, then it’s roll-call time! If you’re going to be there tomorrow, feel free to announce it to the world! Personally, I’ll be there with my dad and I would like to meet more people. I always have a great time at the feeds, but I always leave thinking to myself, “Dammit – why didn’t I talk to more people?!?”

16…thanks for the reminder about a great song. It’s a tune I sometimes find myself humming. I love the line…”I’ve been Ayn Randed, nearly branded a Communist ’cause I’m left handed.” God, I love Simon and Garfunkel.

Oh, and please don’t disclose that I’m coming.

    ROTFLMFAO!!!

16…thanks for the reminder about a great song. It’s a tune I sometimes find myself humming. I love the line…”I’ve been Ayn Randed, nearly branded a Communist ’cause I’m left handed.” God, I love Simon and Garfunkel.

I’m probably the only one in the world that has this urgent craving to flood my ears with Simon and Garfunkel specifically this time of year. There’s something about spending dreary autumns with Simon and Garfunkel. Although, it’s been more of a Kodachrome autumn for me this year and all — with all the photographic studies I’ve done on leaves and color…

Deanna’s the queen of the M’s blogosphere on this, but I had a few ideas for some lines to “Marinerate” that song.

    I’ve been Matt Thornton’d
    Bobby Ayala’d
    There goes another’n
    Ryan Franklin’d…

Hopefully Deanna will be so thusly inspired and come up with a complete parody. She’s so far better at it than I am…

But, yeah, that’s a great song. As is just about any Simon and Garfunkel this time of year. Paul Simon’s “The One” album is at the top of my list, too.

  31. Deanna on October 13th, 2006 11:18 am

I already did a Simon and Garfunkel song last year though. Not sure I’m allowed to do another one.

But on about 5 minutes’ thought, I came up with, just for you specifically:

    I’ve been Mark Teixeira’ed, Juan Rivera’ed,
    I’ve been Vlad Guerrerro’ed, then Pineiro’ed
I’ve been Grand Salami‘ed weekly till I’m blind
I’ve been George Sherrilled, and imperiled
A columnist from the Everett Herald!
That’s not the one you read? Well… nevermind.

I knew a man, who played some ball
He sure thinks that he knows it all
But not the same as you and me!
He’s stuck back in history. He’s so confused
    That when you say “Richie”…
He thinks you’re talking about Richie Ashburn!
    Whoever he was.

…uh, I gotta go to work (late day, don’t ask) and I can’t post USSM comments from there so if I come up with more I’ll email you.

Or maybe just sing them for everyone at the Feed. Not that I’ll be there, of course. I didn’t disclose that.

  32. PositivePaul on October 13th, 2006 11:44 am

    Brilliant as always, Deanna. Brilliant!

  33. gwangung on October 13th, 2006 3:57 pm

    Good lord…!

Say, would you like to do some writing for a sketch comedy group…
