Sheffield to the Tigers

No, really.

The Yankees get three (3!) pitchers: uber-prospect Humberto Sanchez, then two 22-yr old righties in Kevin Whelan and Anthony Claggett.

This is a shocking haul for a year of Sheffield’s petulant services. If they were willing to trade Ibanez, what would the M’s get, a whole farm system?

Yeah, my first thought on hearing this trade is “Woo Hoo! Sexson has value!”

Traded for Sean Casey which settled 1st base

Yeah, Detroit managed their first base situation really well. First they shot themselves in the foot, then they hit it with a hammer.

Given that the spelling police missed this one, I thought I’d point out that the famous sports medicine doctor is actually called Lewis Yocum. I know it’s confusing, what with the “c” sunding like a “k” and everything, but he is, after all, quite well known in baseball circles.

    Maybe this will help:

The belief that his name is spelled Yokum
is clearly exposed as entirely hokum.

Sarcastic verse cuts deeper when it scans.

I’d fix it, but the response is better than the comment.

    Loose translation:

“Lacking anything of substance to add, I shall resort to cheap, irrelevant crticism”

    Oh wait, that’s SOP anyway.

Who’s resorting to cheap criticism? I don’t get it.
