#235: Harden's game score on ESPN is incorrect--it's not subtracting points for hits or walks allowed. It should be 76.

#232: Gotta love the in-game boxscores. Found this gem in ESPN's scoring summary:

N. Swisher doubled to deep left center, M. Ellis, J. Kendall, E. Chavez, B. Crosby and T. Buck scored

The Truth about the Grounder

The fact is, just like any other pitcher, ground ball pitchers can be successful and unsuccessful, based on how well they do other things, like controlling the strike zone. But the ability to prevent balls from being hit in the air itself is not all that important; certainly not as much as some would like you to believe.-David Gassco Hardball Times

Exactly why Bavasi's theory is flawed that he used in acquiring Batista and Ramirez.

#237 living up to his name. Nice.

I'll go out on a limb and proclaim Ramirez as far and away the superior pitcher to Batista. I'm basing my opinion on the totally irrelevant spring training (well, maybe not so irrelevant now that we see Batista's very unimpressive repertoire.)

Game 1 - 4 runs scored, 0 runs allowed - 1-0
Game 2 - 12 runs scored, 4 runs allowed - 2-0
Game 3 - 12 runs scored, 13 runs allowed - 2-1

I hate three game serieses. Scoring 12 runs in a three game set and giving up 13... how'd we win this series?

Diaspora M's fans deailing with MLB EI issues may find this post from SoSH interesting...

I called DirectTV to cancel my friday installation and I recorded their response: "InDemand has purchased the rights but Time Warner, Comcast, Cox, and Dish have refused to pay the increased price so DirectTV is still your one stop for MLB EI."

speaking of good pitching game scores, Harden just put an 84 up on us. There have been some very good pitching performances already this year.
