Oakland’s padding their run differential against Texas, 10-0, through 5.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:40 pmWhat the bloody hell is going on with Comcast-FSN Northwest? They announced HD broadcasts of all Mariner homegames some time ago and actually did broadcast a few, but now it’s gone dark (HD channel 664). I wonder if some of the dead tree media could bestir themselves to investigate this small question since, you know, perhaps a few people were encouraged to purchase digital cable packages based on the announcement/promise to perform?
Not that I’m going to file suit. Tonight, anyway.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:44 pmPickin’ Machine just homered off of Tom Gordon to tie Reds-Phillies at one, with 2 outs in the ninth inning.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:47 pmUhh, argh, tonight is not a “homegame.”
April 20th, 2007 at 6:47 pmDrayer was just on saying that, yes, the Ms admit that it was up on mariners.com, a website which is part of mlb.com, but (as was obviously stressed heavily to the media by the Ms) it is NOT the Mariners’ website, and that the writers over there are free to write whatever they want, even if it is wrong wrong wrong
April 20th, 2007 at 6:49 pmOkay, whoops. But last night was and it wasn’t on HD either (don’t think any of the Minnesota series was).
April 20th, 2007 at 6:51 pmOver/Under for times hearing that John Mellencamp song during game commercials tonight is 10.5.
I’m praying it’s the under, but betting it’s the over.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:53 pmDrayer mentioned the same thing on the radio broadcast. I was unaware the the “official” (but not so much so, I suppose) M’s website was less trustworthy than 14 year old’s Myspace page. So can the M’s direct me to their secret official website where I can find factual and official probable pitcher listings? I believe the URL is something along the lines of wedon’tknowhatwe’redoing.com.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:56 pmI blame Jim Street
April 20th, 2007 at 6:57 pmso, if the A’s (unusually) get off to a hot start, does that mean they don’t have their usual stormin’ back 2nd half?
April 20th, 2007 at 6:59 pmWell, mariners.org used to be done in particular by the M’s, I believe. Back in the day when they were the first team to have a website. Then everyone got the “official” site and mariners.org (which I still type) redirects to theirs.
April 20th, 2007 at 6:59 pmThey wouldn’t tell me anything on mariners.gov.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:01 pmI remember the porn industry wanted to use the .xxx ending for porn sites. Maybe mariners.xxx holds all the secrets.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:05 pmSee the new delicious front page post. I wonder if there wasn’t at least some confusion and back and forth in the M’s org about this.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:08 pmMariners.gov asked me to immediately identify myself or be handed over to federal authorities.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:09 pmI wonder if Hargrove has figured out that Mateo sucks yet.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:14 pmNo.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:15 pmLet’s spread the rumor that Mateo was the one who listed Morrow as Monday’s starter. That could change Grover’s mind about his favorite portly righthander.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:19 pmAggressive baserunning!
April 20th, 2007 at 7:19 pmUhh…Beltre was in there, not even close.
Vidro…. nevermind.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:19 pmThats one for the over under.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:20 pmagressive baserunning! Pineiro warming up to pitch to Yankees, maybe to A-Rod, this is too fun!
April 20th, 2007 at 7:20 pmtry watching in cali with hudler (worst ever!) doing color…”he was out…not even close” says the wonder dog…guy’s an idiot…
April 20th, 2007 at 7:20 pmMy prediction for tonights game… Batista pitches decently for 6 2/3 innings and the Mariners lead 4-3 when Batista walks the bases loaded with two outs in the 7th inning. Mateo comes on and gives up a 3 run double on an 0-2 count.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:23 pm24: even better, it’s Vlad, pitch 1 “fastball” foul ball HR to right. Pitch 2: “change” FB HR to left. Pitch 3: “slider” GS to dead center.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:26 pm#22 looks like Pineiro will be going against A-rod with a guy on 6-7 boston…
April 20th, 2007 at 7:26 pmdid ichiro just perpetrate the no-look catch?
April 20th, 2007 at 7:26 pmeveryone turn on ESPN, A-Rod, down 1, bottom 9, one on, one out.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:26 pmI mean top 9, and unfortunately Joel isn’t pitching.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:27 pmLet’s face it, it was just some guy “writing on the internet”. You know how reliable that is…
April 20th, 2007 at 7:28 pmMan, that guy is so washed-up.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:29 pm“Anderson’s been one of the better hitters in the league for a long time now” — Blowers
Really?
April 20th, 2007 at 7:30 pmHudler: Anderson’s a “premium run producer”
April 20th, 2007 at 7:30 pmwell if you take into account the span of “a long time” and consider “one of the better” to mean in the better half of hitters, and that his career OPS+ = 105, then yes, Blowers is correct.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:33 pmoh, just add “against the Mariners” to both those statements…
sigh.
Slumping? Invite the Mariners to your next baseball series!
April 20th, 2007 at 7:34 pmWas Ibanez being doubled off just lousy luck or more Grover-esque agressive baserunning?
April 20th, 2007 at 7:36 pmAngel Killer!
April 20th, 2007 at 7:38 pmRe: 36 Bad luck I think.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:38 pmtotal bad luck for ibanez…if only the entire roster hated the angels as much as guillen does…
April 20th, 2007 at 7:39 pmBloomquist has intangibles, Vidro has veteran presence, Guillen has hatred. Mariners rock!
April 20th, 2007 at 7:44 pmTui 2-2 with a two singles and a walk.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:45 pmOuch.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:47 pmOK, even on the radio, that sounded like Grover-esque agressiveness at play.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:48 pmoh wow…
April 20th, 2007 at 7:48 pmWe’re just building up a store of Karma that will result in a go-ahead HR by Broussard off of K-Rod.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:48 pmIf only we could have one player with all those qualities? Oh yeah! Carl Evertt! … Whatever happen to that guy?
April 20th, 2007 at 7:49 pmThat was pretty much unlucky as well though he maybe should have gotten back to 2nd.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:49 pmAt least Lopez showed a nice opposite field stroke.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:50 pmIf only we could have one player with all those qualities? Oh yeah! Carl Evertt! … Whatever happen to that guy?
I dunno, Al Martin had plenty of hatred, though he didn’t take it out on players.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:51 pmWouldn’t you know it the A’s score 16 runs tonight and I have Piazza on my fantasy team and he is 0 - 5.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:52 pmOakland 16, Rangers 3
April 20th, 2007 at 7:52 pmSometimes when I’m perusing the baseball scores in the paper, it’ll hit me: “Hey, remember that time we had Carl Everett on our team?” “Whatever happened to Ben Davis?” “What about that Miguel Olivo guy? And then the other guy that was just like Miguel Olivo and shared his number and what was his name…?”
As much as I love baseball, I’m so sick of not being able to know who the hell is on my team anymore—and if they’re any good.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:53 pmThat’s right. Martin took his aggression out on U. of Michigan running backs during his college football heyday.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:53 pmOf course, the day Vlad comes back is the day we come into town.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:54 pmOakland with 11 walks in 47 plate appearances
April 20th, 2007 at 7:54 pmMartin also had some… er… “domestic violence” incidents. Which wife, I’m not sure.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:54 pm52 you can basically assume that if they aren’t on the team anymore, they weren’t good.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:55 pm56
I knew what you meant. I always assumed that Martin and former Wolverine FB Leroy Hoard were “life partners.” Am I mistaken?
April 20th, 2007 at 7:58 pmAnother killer throw wasted.
April 20th, 2007 at 7:59 pmMan, bleeding to death over 162 games is gonna make for a long season.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:00 pmhow many more years of Batista await?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:00 pmChaves: “Hey Miguel, pitch luckier, huh?”
April 20th, 2007 at 8:00 pm3, I think, at 8 per?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:01 pmSo, does this mean that Bautista isn’t “pitching to win” or that he sucks?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:02 pmwow, I turn the channel for a second and return to this… Maybe I should just finish reading DMZ’s book “The Cheater’s Guide to Baseball“.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:03 pmIt’s okay to savor it.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:04 pmhow many more years of Batista await?
If we could accelerate to 99% of the speed of light, mere seconds!
April 20th, 2007 at 8:04 pmHopefully they won’t fix the volume problem.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:05 pmI wish “easy play” didn’t come so trippingly to the announcer’s lips when the Mariners were batting.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:09 pmcome on Angel Killer!
April 20th, 2007 at 8:12 pmBack in ‘04, Honus Wagner hit .349!
April 20th, 2007 at 8:12 pm@#$@#$@#%@%!!!!
April 20th, 2007 at 8:15 pmso, this is boring, howabout Sidney Ponson with the 9.31 era, shouldn’t they bring up Garza?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:21 pmWhat kind of mother could do that to her baby?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:24 pm“Easy play, one out here in the top of the 5th.”
April 20th, 2007 at 8:25 pmLopez with a nice opposite field stroke.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:27 pmTo bad the name ‘Pirates’ is already taken given the Mariners penchant for stranding people.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:29 pmI wonder what the record is for strand percentage by an offense for a season.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:36 pmDoyle with what could be the game winning hit in 14th inning against FLA
April 20th, 2007 at 8:37 pmAt least Vidro is hitting. That’s a good thing.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:38 pm_David_: with the exception of Rafael Soriano, Carlos Guillen, Freddy Garcia (at least while with the ChiSox), Jamie Moyer….
April 20th, 2007 at 8:39 pmthis game is terrible in every way…
April 20th, 2007 at 8:41 pmAnd soon we may be able to add Doyle to the list of Exceptions to the “not-on-the-team-not-any-good” rule….
April 20th, 2007 at 8:41 pmvidro is the slowest runner ever…ever…
April 20th, 2007 at 8:43 pmAnd yet Vidro’s lack of speed seems to be hovering somewhere around number 319 on the list of problems the Mariners will need to address to move up to respectable baseball.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:46 pmAt least we’ve helped snap the Angels out of their terrible offensive slump. The Mariners really are a team full of nice guys.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:47 pmWell, on that note. I am going to find something else to do.
Call me when Felix gets better.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:48 pmok so Batista… why did our beloved team sign him again? and why for 3 years?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:48 pmOh, Morrow warming up now? What the hell, Hargrove?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:49 pmHargrove THIS IS MATEO’s TIME! Not when the team is leading 2-1.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:53 pmso, any speculation now on who starts monday now that morrow is in?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:58 pmGuess they’re getting him prepped for Monday…?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:59 pmshouldn’t Morrow just pitch the last few innings?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:59 pmBets on if Sims or Blowers mentions the PR snafu during Morrow’s pitching time?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:00 pmthanks to the idiot fan…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:01 pmMaybe the organization will suddenly become aware of how disastrous the Texas start would have been as they’re seeing this…?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:01 pmwow…can we get a single break tonight?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:02 pmThis is turning into the Boston rout the day before the Fabulous Felix game.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:03 pm98- too bad we don’t have felix tomorrow…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:05 pmi’m going to the next two games in anaheim…i swear, if the next two days are this bad, i might not make it home…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:07 pmIf we ever capture terrorists who are M’s fans, just have the Feds strap them to a chair and watch the last four games. They’ll spill all their secrets!
April 20th, 2007 at 9:10 pmI have to say, the Good Vidro - the pitch-watching, hitting-in-the-air guy - is so much better than the pound-into-the-ground one it’s ridiculous.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:15 pm#101 I know I would confess to something if it only meant our guys could start getting some runs.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:16 pmNormally I would wait until the end of the game to say “well, that game certainly sucked.” But why wait?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:16 pmnice picture of ichiro in the dugout…you he’s just counting the days to get the hell out of dodge…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:17 pm#102 yeah the Vidro that doesn’t try to run out grounders is so much better.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:17 pmvidro scores from first? wholy shit…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:17 pmso the real question is, is Ichiro going to get traded by mid-season or not!?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:18 pmreal answer… yes
April 20th, 2007 at 9:19 pmhe’s gone…either way…hope we get something for him…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:19 pmIchiro for Livan Hernandez. Bookmark this.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:20 pmMaybe we can geet Creek, Martin and Offerman?
Oh, never mind, Gillick is in Philly
April 20th, 2007 at 9:21 pmI thought Guillen was going to use the Dark Side of the force, to feel his hatred, to make his at bats better. Maybe some little girl gave him a flower on the way into the ballpark and he lost the hate. Maybe he will use his emotions better tomorrow.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:22 pmTheeeeeeere’s the towel.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:22 pm102: Yeah, surprisingly, there are some things that guy can still do
April 20th, 2007 at 9:23 pmwell, guillen did have two hits…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:23 pmBatista’s ERA went from 8.00+ prior to tonight to a slightly high 8.00+. At least dude is consistent.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:23 pmcan anyone confirm or deny that Batista’s three years are all guaranteed?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:24 pm#116 oh sorry, I missed that. Maybe it is me, and I should just never watch Guillen’s AB again.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:25 pmi’m just praying to god that they broke their slump and it’s out of their system…or else ramirez and weaver are meat…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:25 pmMaybe the next commercial should go something like this:
“Swinging at the first pitch, hitting into dp’s, running ourselves out of innings, putting in fat relievers…C’mon out to the Safe. You never know what fun lies ahead!”
April 20th, 2007 at 9:28 pmso three late rallies in a row…how about we score off a starter for a change…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:31 pmno kidding
April 20th, 2007 at 9:32 pmscouting report on willy-
throw fastballs down the middle
April 20th, 2007 at 9:33 pmthis is ridiculous…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:35 pmRALLY TIME
April 20th, 2007 at 9:35 pmlooks like it will work out for guillen to hit a slam to take the lead.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:35 pmwas taking out Ibanez and Sexson a good idea?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:36 pmcouldnt write a better story than that… i guess im a bit of an optimist
April 20th, 2007 at 9:36 pmi’d say at least this is some momentum for tomorrow, but that hasn’t been the case after the last two rallies came up short…plus colon throws tomorrow…ugh…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:37 pmCounting F-Rod thumbing his cap… that’s two…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:38 pmi might seem crazy, but did vidro have that beaten out even with a clean catch?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:40 pmyeah it looked like he was there anyways
April 20th, 2007 at 9:41 pmso if grover makes no subs, do we win tonight?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:42 pmwell, i’ll talk to you all on monday…maybe i can bring some “funk” to the big A…later…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:45 pmtheres a good chance… but the world will never know, it seems like ichiro and ibanez would have been more effective than bloomquist and ellison… give it to Grover to finally make some moves, at the worst possible time
April 20th, 2007 at 9:45 pmhow many loses would it take for Hargrove to get fired?
I feel like a kid in the backseat kicking father Bavasi in the back of the seat and asking when are we going to get there?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:47 pmsorry, I am probably missing some vital information about the 9th inning situation, but why was Ichiro replaced? (taking out Sexson / Ibanez made sense given the circumstances but…)
April 20th, 2007 at 9:48 pmWe now officially lead the league in one offensive category (besides non-power hitters making outs on 3-0 counts)
“RISP when the tying run isn’t even on deck yet”
April 20th, 2007 at 9:50 pmEvery morning I wake up and hope today is the day the entire front office and coaching staff get fired. Day to day they keep doing their best to make it happen, but the descision never comes.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:56 pmHey, look on the bright side! High Desert just came back in extra innings to beat Lake Elsinore in 10, 3-2, when Travis Scott made his first plate appearance of the year and knocked home the walk-off 2 run single.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
