Doesn’t Dave’s comment that there “aren’t any better options” sort of point out the necessity of the HoRam-RafSo trade? Without the rotation depth that HoRam provides, one of those options that aren’t any better than a guy with an 18+ ERA would be in the rotation now!

1) Either one of my Basset Hounds is a better pitcher than Weaver. The fact that he’s getting another start is beyond ridiculous.
2) The Yankees are indeed beatable, so I wouldn’t necessarily make assumptions about this weekend (except for Weaver’s start).
3) I hate to keep pointing this out (as I have been since fairly early last year), but the evidence keeps accumulating that the M’s have once again destroyed an arm, this time Felix’….

from the Chronicle’s Susan Slusser: “The A’s did make a trade on Wednesday, an unusual one, sending outfielder Ryan Langerhans to Washington for former Mariners outfielder Chris Snelling, long a player the A’s have had interest in. Langerhans’ A’s tenure lasted all of two games; he was acquired from Atlanta on Sunday.”

By the way…is it just me, or does nobody in MLB really put much value in Chris Snelling? All we could get for him (plus Fruto!) was Vidro, and all the Nationals got was Ryan Langerhans. Maybe they know something we don’t?
