Twice we had a runner get on base to lead off the inning late in that game, and twice McClaren opted not to bunt. Twice we grounded into a DP instead. Pathetic.

Hi I'm new to this blog so I apologize if I'm repeating something that's been said earlier. But it seems that the Ms are completely dependent on the clutch hit. Where's the opportunistic bunt, sac fly, squeeze, or steal when our bats are this silent? We've now had 2 shutouts and a 1-run loss in our last 4 games. But it seems McClaren (and for that matter Hargrove before him) are unwilling to play small-ball to scratch out a run here and there. Could have been the difference in splitting the last games instead of going 0-4. Our pitching is generally doing well. I'd much rather watch us attempt a little fun, small ball and fail than continue to await the clutch hit from Sexon or Broussard.

Putting things in perspective....a little...after we failed to score in the top of 8th in the first game I was so frustrated that I had to go for a run instead of stay and watch the 9th....and risk throwing something in anger of us NOT getting the job done again...

I had to run to burn off energy b/c I get that upset when the M's lose especially this year. I got about as far away from my apt as I could before turning around....a good 2 miles....and a thunderstorm quickly came in (I live in Orlando FL and they pop up like crazy all the time.) It took me about 25 minutes to finally get back, as I am out of shape. But on the way back there were numerous lightining strikes all around me, and seemingly close. TO be honest it scared the living shit out of me running back, and the only reason I was in the place to begin with was b/c the M's lost and I was real pissed off.

Granted this is just a story I'm sharing for fun, but it does put things in a little perspective.....that baseball is just a game and we are not in control of how the M's play. I'll still be living and dying with each pitch tonight but this is just a game...as hard as it is to realize that.

We should bench Sexson on the basis that we wouldn't have to hear that damn Jason Kidd roommate story another time.

Well, if the M's can hang tough they get a ten game streak where they play four home against the Rays sandwiched by home/away 3-game series against Oakland. And September is the time for call-ups and experiments by teams that are out of it (assuming Oakland is indeed out of it). That last stretch against the Angels, Indians (and these Rangers) could be brutal, though.
