I gave this to my Dad last summer. He was still bringing up anecdotes from it when I talked to him on the phone last week. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

I absolutely recommend this book. I flew threw it because it was so good. I actually read it a second time because it is so interesting.

I’ve already given it to everyone I know. Counting my copy I think I bought 5.

You only know four people? Stay off the blog and get out, man! πŸ™‚

Thanks for the reminder, Derek. There are a couple of people on my list this would be appropriate for….

Man, I am the only one in the family who likes (and understands the rules) baseball. My I can give a gift to myself, now with the strong Canadian dollar.

This book is a very entertaining read for anyone even slightly interested in baseball. I would highly recommend it as a gift.

I recently finished the book and wholeheartedly recommend it to hardcore fans, casual fans, and people who enjoy bending the rules in all walks of life.

I only know 4 people who would read a book and/or like baseball.

I am the only one in my gift-giving circle who would read this, unfortunately. However, it is definitely on MY list!

I gave out copies to trick or treaters that stopped by our house on Halloween… No one tilted our outhouse over so I’m thinking everyone appreciated it….

Buying one as a Christmas gift now.

Any plans for a second edition, Derek? Or something equally as cool?

  12. Carson on December 6th, 2007 1:49 pm

Derek – I just realized a couple more people it’ll make a good gift for.

Do you get some sort extra credit from that Amazon link? If so, I’ll buy there. Otherwise I want to grab it from Barnes & Nobel to avoid tax.

We do get a little slice of that Amazon link, but I’m happy no matter where you buy it as long as you enjoy it.

DMZ – This week’s edition of CostasNOW on HBO has a piece on cheating in sports. I haven’t seen it yet, but thought you might want to check it out since you have a unique interest in the subject.

speaking of cheating, Guillen’s suspension is official

I bought one and my 11 year old son took it from me and read it cover to cover. We had fun watching the playoffs and speculating about signs and the length of the infield grass. Previously he knew the rules but was clueless about the strategy. Now he is a little know it all.

  24. DMZ on December 7th, 2007 10:38 am

Heh. You’re in the same boat as all the Hollywood writers…

    re: 26

Remember, Derek, if the publishing company sells thousands of copies of it on the internet but you don’t get paid, its because it’s PROMOTIONAL.

  28. BigB on December 9th, 2007 7:47 pm

This truly is a fantastic read. Recommended to anyone.

  29. Curt_rocks_my_sox on December 10th, 2007 5:32 pm

I bought a copy of it right before I left on vacation. While I was abroad, I left it in a second hand book store in Asia hoping that another international traveler would find it. Now I want to read it again, it’s on my Christmas list this year.

  30. Faux Real on December 10th, 2007 11:12 pm

I picked up a copy last summer and enjoyed every page. I’ve since recommended it to quite a few baseball fans that have yet to be sucked into this blog and I make sure I mention it every time I run into someone making the “purity of the game” arguement when talking about the current steriods issue.
