i’d be fine with a deal that sent morrow, clement, and any minor leaguer but triunfel for bedard, but am against any deal involving jones…that kid will be a stud…

This is awful. It would seem Bavasi is going for bust the next year or so, wouldn’t it? For years I’ve chuckled at Pirate fans and Ranger fans for their front office shortcomings…now I shall laugh at myself. Shame on me.

On a lighter note. Dave, I picked up THT’s 2008 Annual this last weekend. Nice writing. You summed up my feelings of ‘07 exactly.

I kind of agree with bakomariner, and not others above about Jones being included in the deal for Bedard. The article quotes Bavasi as saying Morrow is off-limits, but Jones is therefore not, which seems odd to me. Jones is a lot closer to performing at a star level than Morrow (neither may make it there), and we’d be getting a star pitcher back, so Morrow/Clement/someone other than Truinfel would make me happy, while Jones/Clement alone makes me unhappy.

Am I valuing Jones too highly? Bedard and Morrow too lowly? I would prefer no deal than giving up on Jones now.

Even with Bedard, does this team competes for the playoffs this year? I don’t think so. I know Bavasi needs us too, but I don’t think so.
