There’s no clutch hitters, because if there were then one would have to ask why they let up and play poorly when the bases are empty.

There probably are, however, anti-clutch hitters, players that do not do well under pressure. They tend not to last too long in the majors, though.

Then there is Sexson, a .200 hitter who has enough power to hit one out once in awhile, if the pitcher cooperates.

Hmmm, on the one hand “Clutchiness” is not a measurable so it doesn’t exist, on the other hand some players excel at hitting “meaningless” home runs?

Can’t have it both ways.

Watching the Reds/Phillies game….griffey just made the ump change teh advertisement that scrolls behind home plate because he was having a hard time seeing the ball from the outfield as the pitcher pitched.
