they were not making fun of Lou. What was obvious is how much they all love Lou, and enjoyed covering him over the years. If they were having fun at anyone’s expense, it was those members of the Chicago press who haven’t yet learned how best to phrase a question after a horrible loss & a Piniella melt-down.

so you’ve missed Glasgow on the subject of the poor defense, the poor offense, and the spotty bullpen the last week or so? it really depends on who is in there– Pitman is much more of a cheerleader than Glasgow.

KOMO makes fun of Lou, sure, but never is heard a discouraging word about the M’s. In fact, it’s a complete waste of time to listen to the announcers and “commentators” of Mariner broadcasts on KOMO or FSN. I understand being homers, yes, but when everyone is afraid of losing their job by saying anything critical about the team, that’s no good. It’s almost like the old Iron Curtain days.

No kidding! I was getting ready to go out tonight, and thus was just getting out of the shower as the KOMO post-game was on…anyway, I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard one of the (five or so) callers who got through actually hit the nail bang-on by correctly pointing out to Glasgow and Valle just how anemic the offense has been. I started thinking, “Wow, how the hell did this guy ever get past the screener…they’ll probably block him so that he’ll never be able to get through again!”

Let me just say it’s a helluva lot more entertaining than watching the Mariners offense.

But yeah, Robert Downey Jr. kicked ass.

Seemed like another typical M’s loss. I’m glad I went to see Iron Man instead.

Alright, who had May 2nd in the “when fans start blaming the team’s record on a lack of heart and pine for Lou Piniella” pool?

I did. Pay up.

…this team isn’t losing because they aren’t motivated or have too much swagger. This team is losing because they’re a mediocre club, which has been obvious to most of us since it was compiled.

I think we’ll all enjoy the season a little more when we realize this.

Let’s face it, this particular Seattle team is a pathetic and lifeless bunch. The hitters’ whole approach to hitting is flawed, and the relievers are allowed to walk the ballpark without so much as a chewing out. The only thing this team has is starting pitching and it’s being wasted.

I hate to say it, but this team needs a Lou Piniella-type to come in and at least light a fire under some players’ butts. This team has way too many guys who swagger their way through life, convinced they’re the chosen ones merely because they’re in “The Show”. Or worse yet, players who make $14 mil a year and whine about being booed.

If I sound irritated it’s because when I watch this team it’s obvious to me they don’t have an ounce of guts. Winning ball games consistently is difficult work and the ability to handle pressure. This team takes the easy way out every time. A sad, sad excuse for a major league baseball team.
