The junior hockey WHL Champions (Spokane Chiefs) are probably laughing their butts off at a MLB “fight”.

I am with #211. My guess is that most of us wouldn’t feel very comfortable with a head level pitch, regardless of where it was thrown.

Totally seriously, I wonder if something’s up in Richie’s world–besides his professional issues–first, taking the personal day yesterday. I assume that has to be something serious, not ‘My daughter has a dentist appointment,’ to miss a game. Then deciding Texas is head-hunting you when it wasn’t that close.

apparently he spent wed night at Childrens Hospital with his son.

I decided not to bother watching the game today…
Other than Richie charging the mound looks like I didn’t miss a thing…
One can only hope the White Sox can get Vidro to charge the mound so he’ll get a suspension too…

Can any of our pitchers hit?

In my limited athletic coaching experience, buttressed by my years in youth work, I’ve noticed that highly athletic girls are actually less likely than male counterparts to complain about injury or to “push back” against the demands of coaches and parents.

To connect to your post, scott. Men and women seem to have in common an unwillingness to push back – women against coaches and parents and men against the masculine attitudes of their sports. And both suffer injuries as a consequence.

it looks like Gabbard’s shins weren’t hurt by Richie’s plunk, but by his teammates piles on top of the two of them to ’save’ him. That had to be a combined weight of about 2,000 pounds.

That’s a little like the so-called “Bertuzzi incident” a few years back between the Canucks and Avalanche…where Steve Moore’s teammates who were supposedly trying to help him after he got blind-slided by Bert actually wound up doing more damage by falling on top of both of them.

Yep…gotta love those bench-clearing brawls where everybody gets involved…not!
