Armstrong said on the KOMO post-game show that his sabermetricians had the Mariners pegged for 89-97 wins before the season.

If they really predicted 89-97 (97!) wins, then it sounds an awful lot like the “sabermetricians” followed the amateurish pattern of, “We won 88 games last year, we got a bit better, therefore our record will be a bit better, say by one to eight wins”?

I hope that someone holds Armstrong accountable for this doggerel.

To his credit, even Sandmeyer over on KJR stated a little while ago that maybe the Mariners should look at “some of these new-school guys” for GM — including Dave Forst and Chris Antonetti!

Gee, when you hear him thinking outside the box like that, that’s saying something!
