If the Mariners loose every game they play the rest of this season because they're trying to give their young players the sort of work they need to become good major leaguers, that's fine with me. Media "analysts" need to spend more time analyzing and less time talking.

Morrow needs to get streched out and used to throwing 80-100 pitches per game in the minors and then he needs to come up to the bigs. And he needs to stay in the game until he's thrown 90 pitches, even if he's getting shelled. He needs experience and he needs outings of starter duration. It's not exactly blowing our playoff chances, letting Morrow get shelled to make him a big league starter? It's more like a way develop a future No. 2/3 starter while putting our name in with the Nats in the Steve Strassburg race. (Not that Morrow will necessarily get shelled, but that if he did, we should care.)

<blockquote>I’m only going to worry if it is still happening at the end of the year. I can’t imagine trying to get a split finger harnessed by pitching an inning here, an inning there.</blockquote>

Agreed. Would a rehab stint or two in Tacoma have been such a bad idea? That is a tough pitch to command the way we've seen him do in the past when you haven't practiced it against hitters for a while.

<blockquote>he’s clearly headed thru Mesa Country en route to the Ayala Badlands.</blockquote>

Let's try not too go too overboard here.

Green has thrown 58.2 innings this season on the worst team in the AL...the only full time reliever I could find with more innings in the majors is Carlos Marmol, who is obviously a key bullpen component on a very good team. I agree with Riggleman's determination that there's no need to burn Green down all the way to the bitter end of this season, but 3/4 days off is plenty at this point, right?

<blockquote>I have about as much faith in JJ right now as I did in Guardado ‘06.</blockquote>

I'd have to agree. Sad to say, the way he's looked his last <strike>few</strike> several outings, he's clearly headed thru Mesa Country en route to the Ayala Badlands.

I'm not trying to say that Sean Green shouldn't be pitching there, but didn't Corcoran come in and get three ground balls (including a hit on a blown call by the 1st base ump) and then get pulled out of the game? What could Green have done that would have been better? I know Corcoran was charged with 2 runs, but his performance looked pretty good to me.

I'm totally happy to see Morrow in Tacoma, but damn.. I have about as much faith in JJ right now as I did in Guardado '06.

He's still not right (or something).

Drayer says she asked Riggleman after the game, and Riggleman said [paraphrasing both of them here] he's been resting him; not because of anything Green said or asked, but that Riggleman felt he had been pitching a lot, and that looking to the future, it was time to give him a rest. He's likely available tomorrow.

on the postgame show Riggleman apparently said Green was being shut down because of his number of appearances. He should be back tomorrow.
