So does Frank Thomas have an official at bat?

  2. JR Ewing on August 21st, 2008 8:49 pm

Or, why are they not putting that bunting practice to good use.

  3. msb on August 21st, 2008 8:52 pm

I suppose if you were pressing when at bat, bunting would be one of the hardest things to pull off successfully …

  4. brooklynmariners on August 21st, 2008 8:56 pm

49- why do we have any players on our team that you would have bunt in that situation? the only ML bunting happening should be done by pitchers. maybe in game 7 of the WS with cairo/johjima up and none out and runners on first and second…nevermind, never give up outs! why is cairo on this team, to provide Veteran Toughness(tm)?

  5. praetore on August 21st, 2008 9:01 pm

you have to give props to cairo for his defense, but we would need a dh just for him

Shift keys are located on the left and right-hand side of your keyboard.

  7. praetore on August 21st, 2008 9:04 pm

man, we have to give the aussie some run support, he’s been great today

  8. praetore on August 21st, 2008 9:04 pm

chill out DMZ, don’t have to freak out about it

  9. joser on August 21st, 2008 9:05 pm

When you have a man on second and less than two outs, I always liked the “steal third while the batter bunts down the 3rd base line” call. If you do it right, you get the 3rd baseman moving the wrong way on the bunt and unless the catcher is really quick everybody’s safe. If you do it right.

RRS 7 ip 1 er 4 h 6 k 114 pitches 74 strikes era now 3.84. That is giving your team a chance to win. Thanks for your effort RRS.

  11. joser on August 21st, 2008 9:06 pm

At least he didn’t call you dmz.

  12. MG8222 on August 21st, 2008 9:10 pm

2RS looked very good out there. Hopefully we can at least get a run so he doesn’t get the loss, but if not….Strasburg…LOL @ us that it took this long to give Morrow a shot in the rotation.

  13. joser on August 21st, 2008 9:12 pm

The Seattle Aussie community isn’t all that big. I wonder if The Hyphen and Ms Jackson know each other. They’d make a good pair. She’s got a couple of inches and years on him, he’s got about 30 pounds on her. And either one of them could probably drink the entire Seahawks team under the table.

  14. Benne on August 21st, 2008 9:13 pm

RRS was pretty awesome tonight, the HR notwithstanding. If he ends up getting the loss in this game, well, that’s Reason #332,268 why wins and losses are a stupid way to evaluate pitchers.

  15. DMZ on August 21st, 2008 9:15 pm

No, it means that he’s incapable of pitching to the situation, a critical skill for media love

  16. MattThompson on August 21st, 2008 9:17 pm

Yeah, if he were a gamer, RRS would have found a way for the A’s to score a negative run, and the M’s win 0 to -1.

  17. JR Ewing on August 21st, 2008 9:18 pm

    64. Note post #38. That being said, one must be pleased with his performance.

  18. brooklynmariners on August 21st, 2008 9:22 pm

When the game’s tied 0-0 RRS can’t be giving up HRs. Maybe he needs to go back to AAA and learn to better handle those Pressure Situations(tm).

  19. JR Ewing on August 21st, 2008 9:28 pm

    Reed at first base ?

  20. brooklynmariners on August 21st, 2008 9:33 pm

Where’s Richie when you need him?

  21. Breadbaker on August 21st, 2008 9:40 pm

    Richie? Available.

  22. Benne on August 21st, 2008 9:42 pm

It’s up to Lopez, Wlad and Joh now. Who wants some Rally Fries?

  23. JR Ewing on August 21st, 2008 9:43 pm

Who agrees with the decision to play Reed at first base for an inning so you have LaHair available to pinch hit for Balentien vs the tough righty ?

  24. Benne on August 21st, 2008 9:45 pm

    Go Tuggles!

  25. G-Man on August 21st, 2008 9:46 pm

73, you have to ask before he throws that ball away.

I do want to tell Dave and Rick (on radio) that Reed played 1B in college for awhile.

    Tug!!

  26. MattThompson on August 21st, 2008 9:46 pm

    Hey Tug!

  27. msb on August 21st, 2008 9:47 pm

    Little Toot!

  28. G-Man on August 21st, 2008 9:49 pm

Pitched around Clement with Yuni next, I’d say.

But then Ichiro is next, so maybe not.

EDIT: Like I said, a DP was to be expected from YB.

  29. Mike Snow on August 21st, 2008 9:50 pm

How many double plays is that for Betancourt now anyway? Has he at least turned more than he’s hit into?

  30. Swungonandbelted on August 21st, 2008 9:50 pm

    Nicely done Yuni. *applause*

  31. MattThompson on August 21st, 2008 9:51 pm

    Well poop.

  32. msb on August 21st, 2008 9:51 pm

ok, good outing for RSS, a little excitement in the 9th, but still a critical loss when the Nats have won.

  33. brooklynmariners on August 21st, 2008 9:52 pm

Maybe Tug should play SS, Yuni is retarded

  34. Carson on August 21st, 2008 9:54 pm

I couldn’t have been the only one who was begging Clement to swing at something — anything — so Yuni didn’t come up in that situation, could I?

Seriously, I doubt anyone didn’t see that finish coming.

  35. abender20 on August 21st, 2008 9:56 pm

I guess it sums up this year, but I was hoping that Clement would not walk because that put the DP in order for Yuni…

In my head as he GIDP’ed again, I heard Niehaus shout “GET OUT THE BUNS AND THE KETCHUP GRANDMA, IT’S A STRAASSSBURRRGERRRRR!!!”

  36. msb on August 21st, 2008 9:59 pm

I find the new set of Boys & Girls Clubs ads where a ballplayer is lurking around the little league diamond in their MLB uniform, waiting to give moral support to an inept young ballplayer just a little freaky.

  37. Mike Snow on August 21st, 2008 10:03 pm

Trade Betancourt! (but I repeat myself)

  38. joser on August 21st, 2008 10:04 pm

Speaking of ads, I was watching with the sound off and there’s that b&w one for… some bank? Guy sitting on steps with flowers, obviously waiting on his women; next scene she’s out on a surfboard, catching waves with her BFF. I guess “bro’s before ho’s” works for the goose as well as the gander.

  39. Sinking Away on August 21st, 2008 10:28 pm

Ballplayers “lurking” around the LL diamond in thier MLB uniform isn’t freaky, it’s sick.

  40. Breadbaker on August 21st, 2008 10:35 pm

The one thing I wanted Yuni to do is what he never does: strike out.

  41. Tuomas on August 21st, 2008 11:58 pm

Remember when Yuni wasn’t the baseball equivalent of leprosy? Wasn’t that the best?
