Less than 50 comments on a Felix game thread just about says it for this season.... Worst ever?

I'd love to see a line chart of comments per game-thread... Or probably-actually a scatter plot with a trend line... :) Maybe if I get bored I'll do one at seasons end.

Lopez only hits enough to be a middle infielder, but he doesn’t have the D to be there…such is our luck…

Maybe. On the other hand, the only M's hitting better than him (in OPS or OPS+) this season are Raul and Ichiro.

So on this team, you could put him just about anywhere and it would be an offensive upgrade.

Felix VORP: 34.6
Washburn, Silva, Batista, Bedard, Dickey, Ryan R.S. combined VORP: -8.1 (Aaaahhhh!)
Washburn, Bedard, Dickey, R.R.S. (i.e. non- negative VORPers): 28.2

Conclusion: You're right.

Commentary: Bedard was a bust because he's only pitched half a season. Dickey can be forgiven since it's not really his job (not a starter)--of course, the VORP calculated here include relief appearances, so I don't know how good he was as a starter. (I can't help but love Mr. No UCL, even if he's not doing much for my team.) R.R.S. has, unfortunately, way exceeded his peripherals and is due for a collapse (xFIP = 5.06).

I love Jarrod Washburn and am very excited that he leads non-Kings in IP for the Mariners this season. It is good to know that the guy who throws the second most innings has an ERA of 4.9 something that exceeds his FIP and xFIP. Are there anymore 34 year old pitchers with a whopping 4.9 Kd9 we could hire for a few years?

On the other hand, Felix is ours and no one else can have him.

"Anybody have any suggestions on who we will pick up this off-season?"

No doubt some 35-YO former "power" hitter who's now totally burned-out, yet had 1-2 decent seasons five or so years ago for a semi-contender...thus was worth overpaying for his "leadership/chemistry" qualities.
