Thank you all for getting me through every workday, even if it was shitty news….it gave me something to talk to other people about and gather their opinions as well. Hard to find Mariners fans when you live in Ontario, Canada.
Keep up the great work, and hope to make it out to Seattle next year for a feed or something.

Of all the disappointments of this godforsaken team, the most bitter was having to tell the customs broker that I wanted to abandon my shipment of one six-pack of SP Lager to US Customs, because I didn’t want to pay $150 on a probably-unsuccessful effort to get it released. That was going to be my bitter celebration of a garbage season by the WORST BASEBALL TEAM OF ALL TIME.

Yes, plenty of others have lost more games, but none did it with a deeper absence of panache.

But thank you, Derek, and thank you, Dave. Without USSM this year would have been unbearable.

Thank you. It is USS Mariner that inspired me to randomly turn on Morrow’s near no hit game. That made the season worthwhile by itself.

End of season donation on the way…definitely would not have made it through the season without this site.

A few of my ussm highlights for the year…

-portals/cake
-consistent line of rational thought on the Bedard trade (while print media swung on a giant pendulum of hypocrisy from “love it” to “hate it,” ultimately landing on the “Bedard is a terrible person and an even worse interview” bandwagon
-coverage of the end of the Bavasi era
-coverage of Niehaus to the Hall
-Yamauchi’s entrance music
-standing up for Ichiro/Beltre and explaining why it makes no sense to trade them
-eviscerating Beaver and Burger for being bad teammates and even worse pitchers
-pop-ins by Jonah Keri, one of my favorite national sports writers

So many more but it’s early and I find it painful to think too hard about all that we M’s fans went through this season.

Now let’s bring on Ng or whomever it’s gonna be and let them start patching the splintered hull.

I am infinitely more excited about this offseason than I was this past season and this site has a lot to do with that. I look forward to the insight from Derek, Dave and everyone else here as this team searches for a GM, manager, and players. Should make for some great, and hopefully positive, discussion.

And what a brilliant year for me to give up the season tickets. If only thousands more would join me this coming season.

For anyone with season tickets – even if you plan on keeping them, make the team sweat every single renewal (and believe me, they chased me well into May to renew, so it’s not like you’ll be losing out). Losing ticket sales, and especially that nice, up-front season-ticket money is the only thing that will continue to grab their attention.
