Game 1 World Series Wooo

I just got back to Seattle to find out the M’s have a new GM and now I get to try and watch the Rays play without falling asleep to reset the body clock. Go Kazmir!
Am I the only one who dislikes Joe Buck and Tim McCarver? Especially, when they pronounce his last name “Cashmere.”
McCarver on TV, Joe Morgan on the radio. Do you want a fork in your eye or knives under your fingernails?
they pronounce his last name “Cashmere.â€
Just start humming the Led Zeppelin tune (“I am a traveler of both time and space…”) And drink. Make it a game. Everytime somebody says something stupid, drink*. Just getting through Buck’s attempted explanation of the ground rules regarding the dome would leave most people too inebriated to find the “mute” button.
(*Note: not responsible for alcohol poisoning.)
Or, rather, is there anyone out there who truly likes them?
C’mon, you’re expecting them to know how to pronounce the names of players who don’t play for the Yankees or Red Sox?
pretty good game thread over at draysbay if you’re rooting for the rayhawks…
there are teams NOT named the Yankees or the Red Sox?!?!?
the hell you say.
oh, and willkommen zurück, Herr Zumsteg
I do believe that Family Guy’s mocking of Tim McCarver had it spot on. “As good as the Yankees were in the first half of the game; that’s as bad as they’ve been now.”
Occasionally merciless pummelling of McCarver at the Phillies blog Beerleaguer, if you have the time to run through it all. And he played for them (of course during some of their worst years ever)! Looks like I’m the only guy reading USSM pulling for the Phils.

That’s awesome. Though I suspect that — as with Tina Fey’s impersonation of Palin — that’s not parody so much as a word-for-word recitation of something he actually said. As with some of Joe Morgan’s pronouncements, there are some oratory pretzels that couldn’t be composed by even the most gifted and twisted writer.
I will be pulling for the Phillies just as long as Moyer is on the mound, or Dobbs is at the plate. Not otherwise. 1980 is a lot more recent than “never” (even if their particular “never” began only in 1998). Plus I really can’t cheer for Gillick, especially when the Rays winning it all helps put another nail in the “old school” coffin.
Definitely Go Rays — for a number of reasons. However, if Jamie finally gets a WS ring after 22 years in the majors, I’ll not be too crushed. 🙂
