Funny how blogs get sidetracked... Tango answers questions about his job and it ends up a bash or defend NJ thread.

But wow, what a great gig, getting paid to do stuff with baseball, but hmm, now that I think about it, there are probably fewer stat guys getting paid than there are players. And the stat guys probably spent a lot more time getting that way.

I would say the same thing about the equally boring Albany, or CT.

As somebody who once lived in the Albany area, I fully concur with this statement. But the proximity to Montreal/Boston/NYC/Cooperstown was pretty cool.

actually, I think I have some NJ memories, but they may be based solely on childhood photos.

As a lifelong resident of NJ, I'd like to refute the anti-NJ tone of this thread.

I'd like to, but I've been a lifelong resident of NJ, so ... eh.

I'm sure Seattle is very nice. At least you don't have to deal with Yankee fans out there.

Don't compare Seattle to NJ. Compare Washington State to NJ. There are parts of WA that are great, and there are parts of it that make me want to cut myself. Jersey's the same way, but it's cooler to hate on. There are parts of Hoboken and Jersey City I like better than Manhattan and Brooklyn.

And Jersey gave rise to my favorite funny t-shirt: Jersey girls aren't trash - trash gets picked up.

I have no special affinity for NJ. Its proximity to Manhattan, Montreal, Boston (which we really like and it's the closest thing to Montreal), and close enough to Ottawa/Toronto (those three Canadian cities is where all my family lives), plus that my wife has half her family in NJ, as well as being a good hub of job opps makes it a good spot. I would say the same thing about the equally boring Albany, or CT.

I have no doubt that Seattle's quality of life is among the best, if not the best, in the whole country. If I was single, it'd be a whole different ballgame.
