Griffey undecided on deciding

DMZ · February 18, 2009 at 4:50 pm · Filed Under Mariners

“It’ll take me some more time before I’m able to figure out if I want to make a decision or not,” Griffey said. “It’s a big thing, sitting down and considering your options, and I’m not sure making a decision soon is the right choice now for me and my family. What if a third team wants me and hasn’t said anything yet? If I found that out after signed somewhere, I’d regret my decision to make a decision.”

“And what date should I settle on for making the decision? There are so many possibilities, and after waiting this long it would be wrong to rush into picking a date.

“Or would it? I don’t know.”

I thought a Griffey signing would be a mistake, because it will be a distraction and a side-show. Then I decided there would be no harm in a little feel-good pub. Now I just want it to be done one way or the other.

    Or do I? I don’t know.

Griffey’s comments are approaching Yogi Berra levels of incomprehensibility.

    Please let it end…

Really Junior? Somebody punch me in the face. I have no doubt in my mind that it would be less painful than this!

“Or would it? I don’t know.” Seriously? He said this? Everyone needs to just move on. Having a broken Junior is not what this team needs anyway.

Or is it? I don’t know.

Griffey has somehow figured out how to be a clubhouse distraction to two teams at the same time. Why stop now? I mean what if a third team wants to be distracted?

I bet Griffey is trying to delay his time to begin Spring training exercises. We all know he has never been a workout addict.

They announced Griffey signing with M’s on Kiro just now.

At this point I’ll believe it when there’s dry ink on a contract shown to me, in person.

This feels too much like the 2000 Presidential Election. . .

If he had made up his mind. Baker and Stone would be all over it by now.

They must love him in restaurants. There are “so many possibilities.”

WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that Jr. is returning to the Mariners. Not a joke.

Starting to wonder if the M’s will end up signing Brett Favre out of pure spite.

  15. mariners23 on February 18th, 2009 5:17 pm

At this point I wouldn’t mind If he signed with Atlanta because Im starting to feel that the whole season might be like this, a huge waste of time

If I was GM, I’d withdraw my offer just because. It’s not like this guy is going to make or break the M’s in 2009. Seriously, I punt him just so my team could go to work each day without this stupid conversation and my coaches could make plans/assessements that do not have a ‘what if’ quality because Jr. isn’t quite sure. Third team my arse.

Ah, so the real reason for the delay. He wants another team to jump into the mix. I thought he was just dragging his feet to wait for the A-hole stuff to pass. He does want the attention. Well, if the lastest rumblings are true, he is about to get all he can handle.

I dunno, steak or chicken? This is a hard decision. What if I feel like fish by the time my food arrives?

It’s going to be hilarious to watch the turn in the tone of posters on this “thread” if Griffey does sign with the M’s. Right now, we’ve assumed he’s signing with ATL. Just wait. If he announces he’s coming back, the over under on explanation points on this thread is 1,000. And I’ll take the over.

I bet in an hour there will be a report saying that 9 sources saw him in Atlanta taking a physical.

  23. seattleslew on February 18th, 2009 5:44 pm

This is just too stupid to be true.

I, I think I’m gonna go with Atlanta. Nah! I’m flying to Seattle tonight for dinner and then I’ll make up my mind. No, wait! Hmm, I’m gonna call up Alex and ask him what I should do, he’s good in pressure situations. Actually, I’m not really sure if I should. Should I or shouldn’t I? Man, being a free agent is tough. Hey, I think I’ll just retire for a year and then decide later if I still wanna play. Yeah, yeah, that’s what I’ll do! People will still love me… I’m Ken Griffey Jr.

Sorry about the double post, but the exclamation points are abounding in the next thread. For the purposes of full disclosure, I should admit that one of those exclamation points is mine.
