USSM Goes To Safeco, Final Reminder

Dave · August 8, 2009 at 10:47 am · Filed Under Mariners

We’re about seven hours from the USSM event at Safeco tonight. Last minute details.

Suggested gathering time is 5 pm outside the home plate gate at Safeco Field. Just north of that gate, there will be a sandwich board with an arrow pointing to the door you will use for entrance to the pre-game Q&A. The event starts at 5:15, and it will take a little while to get everyone in the room, so try to get there a few minutes early if you can. Make sure you have your tickets, obviously.

Also, no audio/video recording will be allowed. If you were planning on bringing a device that allowed you to record the event, don’t. We’ll take it away from you and give it back after the Q&A is over if you bring it, but don’t make us hassle with that – just leave it at home.

Last minute questions, drop them in the thread, and we’ll try to answer them before we take off for the park.

I imagine this includes our cell phones.

We’re not going to take away everyone’s cell phones. But, just don’t use them to record audio/video. If we see people holding up their phones to record stuff, we’ll yell at you. Just help us out and play by the rules and everyone will be fine.

Will there be a twitter update/blog update of interesting things said that can be repeated in public?

Question him about the plans with Johjima please. Clearly Wak wasn’t being completley honest (for obvious reasons, not knocking him) about why Joh wasn’t catching more. Now that Felix is the only one that could be said to have a close working relationship with Johnson, Johnson’s still catching and Joh’s M.I.A. Would be nice to know what their plans are for Joh or if they’ve pretty much have written him off for whatever reason. One would think playing him more would likely up his trade value (or perhaps create some, given there isn’t any right now with his contract).

I will personally be a huge jerk to anyone I see trying to be sneaky.

You’ll know it’s me, because I plan to wear my custom M’s jersey with my name on it (yeah, yeah I know. I was drunk at a game when I bought it, ok?)

Sigh…and that will be when someone NEEDS to communicate with me via cell phone…

Can’t possibly be more exciting or important than what’s going on in the room though, right? 😀

    Have fun today, guys!

And thanks to Dave and DMZ and everyone else for putting this together. Next year, hopefully, I’ll be able to make it.

And everyone remember to bring your Dave Sims hat!

It’s what I tell ’em REPEATEDLY, but they always think it’s a life or death situation…(and I told ’em, not to schedule meetings at that time….).

My friend going to the game with me can’t make it to the pregame Q&A. Does anyone want to just go to that part. This is just for one extra spot.

Hey! My guest just now bagged out on me and none of my other friends seem interested. Anybody want to pick it up at cost? Let me know!

    Question:
Howard Lincoln has been quoted in the past as saying he has not seen a correlation between fielding superstars and winning World Series.
Z has added a lot of very good complementary pieces. Is there a sense that we need a superstar–in the form of a bat–to anchor the middle of our lineup?

  18. gwangung on August 8th, 2009 5:14 pm

Hmmmm…..Felix and Ichiro! wouldne considered superstars….you get the wins from wherever I’d say…
