What are the odds Griffey gets to 20 HR this year?

ZiPS projected him to get 1 more for the rest of the season and he got it tonight. If he somehow got to 20, I think he’s going to want to play next year.

  2. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:15 pm

Gruffy has been Mr. three True Outcomes tonight. What’re the chances he keeps it up?

  3. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:17 pm

    Griffey, stupid autocorrect…

And he keeps it up with the K.

  4. Liam on September 29th, 2009 9:20 pm

    Attendance of 18,167 tonight.

  5. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:21 pm

Gruffy fits in with calling Fred McGriff the Crime Dog.

  6. msb on September 29th, 2009 9:21 pm

    18,167 cold, cold souls.

  7. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:27 pm

There are not 18k people here. Either that or 5k are hiding in the beer garden drinking to stay warm.

  8. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:30 pm

The Rob Johnson man-love by Sims and Blowers has to stop.

  9. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:32 pm

I knew there had to be a good reason to be sitting in the ballpark. Don’t have to listen to the Rob Johnson man-crush.

Oh yeah and I got to watch Felix pitch.

  10. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:36 pm

Cannot complain about Mr. Lowe’s performance there. No reason to let them hit the ball.

  11. Seattleken on September 29th, 2009 9:39 pm

What an idiot Wak is allowing Felix out in the 8th on a cold night over 110 pitches. This exactly what Toronto did to McGowen in a meaningless game no less.

Why take a chance on blowing out his arm, then if he is ok expect him to come back sunday ready to go.

  12. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:40 pm

Was Hall tiptoeing to first there?

  13. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:41 pm

Bill Hall both can’t run and won’t run. That was ugly.

  14. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:43 pm

Wak isn’t screwing around. Aardsma coming in for the 9th in a non-save situation.

  15. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:47 pm

I’ve never seen catcher’s interference in person.

  16. juneau_fan on September 29th, 2009 9:47 pm

Catcher’s interference, again, Rob…Oh, the fourth of the year. Good to know. Or his fourth error? Surely there’s been more.

  17. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:48 pm

So Hannahan is out to play first, but Hall stays in left? That makes no sense.

Catcher interference… might be the first time I’ve seen that live.

  18. Liam on September 29th, 2009 9:48 pm

    Wak isn’t screwing around.

I thought he was going to pull Aardsma after the walk.

  19. Liam on September 29th, 2009 9:50 pm

Hall could have had that foul ball.

“Full throttle it wasn’t” true words from Sims.

  20. hans on September 29th, 2009 9:51 pm

what the hell is Bill Hall doing in the field. Saunders would have had that foul ball for sure. Bill Hall looked like he was running to first base there…

  21. Liam on September 29th, 2009 9:51 pm

or should I say, Langerhans or Saunders could have gotten to that. If Hall is still not 100%, put in a defensive replacement.

  22. juneau_fan on September 29th, 2009 9:53 pm

    God, I hate Johnson.

  23. hans on September 29th, 2009 9:54 pm

Ooohhh. He almost had that one. He was on his hores, but just couldn’t quite get it.

  24. Liam on September 29th, 2009 9:54 pm

Where’s Endy Chavez when you need him? Try and catch that.

  25. hans on September 29th, 2009 9:54 pm

    Or his horse…

I don’t think his hores would go that fast.

  26. Breadbaker on September 29th, 2009 9:55 pm

If Hall is hurting, why wouldn’t you pull him for defensive purposes for the ninth? You have one excellent and one fleet outfielder to take his spot. If Hall isn’t hurting, he’s been dogging it all game and should have been pulled at least after the foul ball, if not on the “run” to first.

  27. juneau_fan on September 29th, 2009 9:58 pm

Liked the totally insincere man hug from AA to Johnson. Then how Rob ran after him, all “What’s wrong, baby?”

  28. Lavalamp on September 29th, 2009 9:58 pm

    .500 baby!

  29. Liam on September 29th, 2009 10:01 pm

    Josh “You Know” Wilson

  30. Phightin Phils on September 29th, 2009 10:23 pm

    .500 baby!

Yes! .500. Oh, that sounds so sweet after last year. So many things to look forward to next year.

But maybe many things to miss.

There was a post on Beltre’s terrible AB (in Toronto) not too long ago. That AB was pretty visible. But did you see him flying down the line after a foul ball in the 9th? He never got there. Neither did…Hall. But you could see Beltre’s pure joy of the *game*…

Well, I froze my ass off in Safeco at a game on a night like this a few years ago, so I can’t really blame Lauren or any of the other “18,000” who stayed away — heck, even in day games I often go up to the cheap seats and sit in the sun to warm up.

Getting back to Felix: that Kennedy AB at the top of the 5th was a thing of beauty. If you can, watch it again: it was absolutely unfair. I don’t think any batter in baseball has a chance against that sequence short of an eyes-closed swing. The called 3rd strike started across the plate at the top of the strikezone but Johnson caught it in the dirt.

If anyone is up and has MLB TV on their cable, they are showing Game 7 of the 1965 World Series, Koufax’s last World Series win. Interesting note: for the last time ever (and first since 1940), no winning pitcher in this Series was relieved; they all pitched complete games. Imagine that today!

So, what I am to understand is … friday’s game will involve thermal underwear, a blanket and lots of coffee?

I’d be interested in specific thoughts on Kikuchi himeslf and how much interest the Mariners have in him.

I’ve read that he compares favorably to Tazawa, and is a better prospect then Junichi was at his age, but could sign for much less since he isn’t as old or as polished.
