Game 33, Rainiers at Orioles

Rowland-Smith vs Bergesen, 4:05 pm.
The Mariners have the night off today – the Tacoma Rainiers have been recalled from Triple-A to take on the Baltimore Orioles. Or, at least, that’s what it looks like according to the line-up.
Ichiro, RF
Figgins, 2B
Kotchman, 1B
Lopez, DH
Tuiasosopo, 3B
Langerhans, CF
Josh Wilson, SS
Moore, C
Saunders, LF
Unfortunately, the team did not also recall Mike Curto to announce the game tonight, despite the fact that it’s Tacoma Night in Baltimore.

I did not think it possible for any team to field a worse line up than the M’s, but if you look at the A’s/Texas game right now the starting designated hitter for the A’s is rookie Josh Donaldson, hitting .067
Donaldson at DH makes the tandem of Griffey/Sweeney/Lopez look like an all star trio by comparison.
When did the O’s sign Cy Young?
Oh dear, wHER is not the tool you’re looking for. You need ANGUR.
(Since you asked: Adjusted No-Good Umpire Rage.)
Way to go Tui
Hey Mariners.
That play? We call it a “sacrifice fly.” It’s not like a “hit” or anything. It’s just another way to get a “baserunner” to “score” from third base with less than two outs.
Thanks for your attention!
Boo, 13-20.
This team featured 4 starters that have played in Tacoma this year, and 4 players (Moore, Lopez, RR-S, and Figgins) who need to go back to Tacoma to remember how to not suck.
Bummer about Hyphen so far this year…
Now we know why Bedard became expendable with the O’s — since Bergesen is the Second Coming of Jim Palmer, after all!
First appropriate use of Sean White.
Well, Wak has now officially thrown up the White flag on this game…
Man, they look helpless without Junior in the line up. I kill me sometimes.
Nah, they’re saving him up; he’s going to pinch hit for somebody in the 8th to further the “Jr. doesn’t sleep during games” campaign
Chone Figgins gets his first RBI of the season
Only problem is, this is a dangerous game to do that. The way the M’s are playing could put an insomniac on a caffine IV to sleep.
I’m sure Bergesen has pitched many fine games against AAA hitters.
The one game I attended at Camden was also a rain delay. By the time it hit extra innings, we were sitting right behind the visitors dugout. No one minded our self-help to improve our seats. I liked that.
Why are we burning through the bullpen right now?
Colome was pulled for an injury or something
I was at Camden years ago. A hot day, a sellout. That’s how long ago it was. They used to sell out games.
We had tickets for a game back in that era, too. It was cancelled because a train with chemicals derailed in the nearby train tunnel. So we gave the “rain check” (“hazardous material spill” check?) to my in laws.
I thought it was classy of Junior not to bring his triple short latte out to the batter’s box with him.
Jr. has no hope of catching up with that fastball…
They’ve awoken Junior!
DP or strike out?
Junior needed that badly
Another day, another at bat, another miracle opportunity missed.
negativity is so cool
Hey at least it’s his first RBI
sigh
This could be the high point he needs to consider a graceful retirement.
Well, there was a time…long, long ago…when Angelos actually invested in that team rather than just blow up the roster constantly.
Leave it to Jr to blow another game and crucial at-bat.
The back of the baseball card lies.
Jr. didn’t blow the game, but the rbi sac fly hurt considering it was the second out of the inning
Oh, come on now. This was a team effort, led by Ryan Rowland-Smith. He may be on the next flight to Tacoma if I had my way.
He blew a chance to make it 5-4. Instead, Jr only made it 5-2. Saunders would have tied it up with a homer if Jr didn’t make an out.
Oh damn, I guess I’m not up to date on all of the new stats coming out of the umpire research.
Ugh. The M’s are really scratching around the cellar now at 13 an 20.
