Ichiro’s response showed just how emotional he was today.

That’s a great image of him jumping on Tinsley.

Haha, M’s are undefeated in the Post Griffey Era.

    Poor Taste my friend

The pitcher caught the throw home…

And the catcher was like “WTF, dude?”

Yeah that was breathtakingly stupid – sort of like pulling the bat back from a bunt on a suicide squeeze. 😀 Fortunately (for the pitcher) Langerhans had it beat anyway.

    whoops haha

****And now for the roster move****

Was that Ump Jim Joyce at second base calling safe?

  7. fiftyone on June 2nd, 2010 10:03 pm

    11-pitch AB for Ichiro!
    Great play by Paperboy.
Langerhans with SMART risk-taking on the basepaths.
And a bad call went the other way.
Hell of a way to win.

You know, that play looked closer than the view from home plate revealed. From center it looked like a tie.

Yeah, at first look I thought it was an obvious blown call… and it still might have been, but it was a lot closer than I thought.

    Poor Taste my friend

    How do you figure?

  10. AssumedName on June 2nd, 2010 10:04 pm

Joyce was distracted by the “24” out there.

Hey, Brandon League gets another win?

  12. henryv on June 2nd, 2010 10:05 pm

The shortstop kinda screwed that up, too, assuming that Wilson would be called out, rather than throwing it home.

Can the Mariners claim Texiera off waivers? hehe

Great pitching tonight by Lee and it’s great to see the team win this one for Griffey.

Also, thanks to the 2B ump for the favorable call. We needed that.

MB is emotional and rightly so…like all of us

  16. fiftyone on June 2nd, 2010 10:08 pm

MB was a hero too. A 1-0 loss on Griffey Retirement Day would have stung like a million angry bees.

Poor Milton – I feel rather sorry for him right now. He’s trying to keep composed while Jen only mentioned Junior about 3 dozen times…

A baseball player just used the word “imperative” during a post game interview.

I have a lot of respect for a player who actually thinks while talking.

    Safe

I love how Sweeney and now Langerhans tonight on radio are referring to Josh as “Paperboy” in interviews.

I have to agree with JerBear and IwearMsHats…the play at second was a LOT closer than it looked originally and might NOT have been a bad call.

    …maybe.

It certainly wasn’t as egregious an error as what happened in Detroit, earlier.

Good win for the M’s. At this point, ANY win is a good win for the M’s.

I’m also somewhat happy that Ichiro didn’t go 0-4. I’m happy that Langerhans scored the run…while also happy that Kotchman was involved in both of our runs being scored.

And Josh Wilson might be my favorite M right now.

And note to FSN: We get the fact that Junior meant a lot to all of us…but he hasn’t died, you know. Don’t get cloying!

There is no shortstop in baseball who gets up and throws home on that. The Shortstop dives for the ball, makes the play, gets the runner out at 2nd and we move on to the 10th. What is he supposed to do…think the ump might not make the right call here at 2nd so I better get up to check if the runner from 2nd is trying to score on this infield hit.

I think you’re getting the shortstop confused with the 2nd baseman.

We win on a rally that began with a weak ground ball by Kotchman, and ended with a weak ground ball in the same area by Ichiro. I’ll take it, but if Griffey gets benched for not hitting, can Kotch be far behind?
