Chad Cordero Actually a Mariner Now
Jay Yencich · June 3, 2010 at 3:53 pm · Filed Under Mariners
Cordero had a 13/3 K/BB and eight hits allowed through 9.2 innings in May. He’s been coming around, the organization has been pretty positive about him throughout. It’s an obvious move.

Good for him! I saw him pitch a couple times in Everett last year and thought he was done (ERA over 11 in short season A ball!). Guess I was wrong again…
But can he provide “left-handed sock” in the DH spot and off the bench? I assume he fills the 12th pitcher role then? (Yes, I know about using that Bavasi-era term.) So we go with Huggy Bear at DH and Kotchman at 1B until something else comes along? ‘shrug’
I bet RJ can’t catch his pitches either, so he will be of limited use.
Dave totally nailed this. I hope he’s right about Scott as well.
if not, fury!
I like the move, he proves to be another large item pickup, but bullpen guys you can’t go wrong with. Worst Case, he’s Sean White, best case he returns to his peak form. He has pitched welled enough to earn the majors job, so I think he worst can’t be all that bad. Sure probably be Tex, but oh well, this is more exciting at least.
Cordero is a good pitcher, and he is usefull in comparison to Sean White or Garrett Olson
Cordero was a stud closer a few years back and I like this move. We need another good setup guy with Lowe on the DL, so maybe Cordero can get back to his former self.
He’s been calling for Luke Scott since last trade deadline!! I hope he’s right…but it doesn’t look like they wanna do anything to score any runs.
The good thing. We have a 7 man bullpen.
Bad News. We have to play Tui, Kotch or Sweeney at 1st.
