Game 66, Mariners at Cardinals
Vargas vs Garcia, 5:05 pm.
As the M’s play the final game in their 20 games in 20 days stretch, Wak has either admitted the season is over or has decided that his regulars need a break. Both are true, actually, so either way, the line-up changes make some sense, though of course the batting order is still crazy. I imagine flyballing Vargas would prefer to have Gutierrez out in center field tonight as well. Oh well, in the end, none of it matters anymore.
Ichiro, RF
Figgins, 2B
Bradley, LF
Lopez, 3B
Josh Wilson, SS

Vargas rocks. What a stud.
Curious – Wak went to RJ to catch DA in the 9th. He trusts him that much more than Alfonzo? And they didn’t PH for Alfonzo in the top of the inning, nor did he make other defensive changes, like inserting Kotchman at first.
Yes, Mike Wilson would be a better call up as he is 27 and has 14 homers in the minors this year and a much better OBP%. Leave Halman down there to keep working on things.
Good call. Wak makes some strange moves.
I don’t think he should be batting 5th, but neither do I think Josh Wilson should automatically ride the pine when Jack comes back.
He’s hitting well enough to merit some starts. He could play third with Lopez at first and Kotchman out.
Vargas has had some good at bats in addition to pitching a hell of a game, I just hope we don’t get walked off on again…my heart might explode.
That was a balk on the Ichiro pickoff!! Arg, why do we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. I feel like the mariners are a guy in a Lowes wearing sweatpants with a loaded gun in the waistband
