Rainiers at Safeco
Playoff baseball returns to Safeco Field tonight, as the Tacoma Rainiers host the Sacramento Rivercats in game three of their PCL playoff series. The Rainiers lead 2-0 and can win the series with a victory tonight, or tomorrow, or even Sunday. They’re in a pretty good position, obviously.
Tonight’s game is at 7:00, and you can buy your $20 ticket here. You’ll get a great seat in the lower bowl, and get a first hand look at the guys who will probably make up the next good Mariners team. Dustin Ackley launched a grand slam last night, and Justin Smoak has made just one out in 11 plate appearances so far in the series. Toss in some hilarious Greg Halman at-bats (he might hit one out of Safeco, or he might not hit a ball all night) and a chance to see a celebration if the Rainiers win, and it should make for a fun evening.
Go to Safeco. Cheer like crazy.
I’ll cheer like crazy, but the local here in Verona seem to only care about football so I may get some looks.
$20 for good seats, playoff baseball and more interesting players, can’t beat that.
Since our usual seats are behind the screen, and we’re sitting behind the Rainiers dugout tonight, I’m hoping for a foul ball. And a celebration after the ninth is over.
I’ll be live-blogging the game, so look for a game thread around 6:45 or so. Hopefully pictures as well.
I would love to go, but to much on my hands.
It’s tremendously selfish of me, but I can’t make it tonight, so I wouldn’t mind if they lose a close exciting one tonight, so I can go tomorrow night and see them win the series then instead.
Wouldn’t mind them wrapping it up tonight too, to have something approaching a celebration in SafeCo Field for the first time in too long…
These are the times I wish 1) I lived in the area and 2) was not still in college. Pictures would be much appreciated.
I’m heading down from Oly, definately excited. Never sat in such close seats. Thinking that if the roof’s closed, that increases the chance for some players’ first Safeco home runs, especially Halman.
Since this is a ‘confirmed’ game, does that mean that tickets can be bought at the gate?
Quick glance at Mazzaro’s FG page, and I’m noticing he’s been replacement level in 115 innings, 1.4 HR/9, and that with a .288 BABIP. ML experience or not, that could be a recipe for another high scoring game.
