Hernandez vs Hill, 9:37 am.

Happy Felix Day.

For the second start in a row, I have to miss Felix, because I brilliantly scheduled a meeting for this afternoon. I should have checked the Felix calendar first.

    What else is new?

Ichi – you got your 200 hits – TAKE THE WALK!

  3. spankystout on September 23rd, 2010 12:01 pm

What else should we expect from this offense? I feel so bad for Felix. He has the worst run support in the MLB and still keeps mowing teams down with a smile on his face. Only a few torturous games left.

    Happy Felix Day

  5. samregens on September 23rd, 2010 12:04 pm

At least Ichiro gave it a shot. God knows the rest of this fucking line-up was mostly hopeless.

  6. scott19 on September 23rd, 2010 12:05 pm

And, of course, Felix gets burned yet again by this completely eff-tarded offense…sigh.

  7. samregens on September 23rd, 2010 12:06 pm

Felix Day was probably not the right day to throw out a bunch of scrubs out there. On the other hand I’m not even sure who they replaced. I know Guti wasn’t out there. But that’s about it. Jeez what happened to the talent?

  8. imiz11 on September 23rd, 2010 12:06 pm

SERIOUSLY MAN….. Ichiro gets 200+ hits and 40+ stolen bases… and is only on pace to score 75runs!?!?!? wtf is that…. that just shows how FKN HORRID this offense is…

  9. The_Waco_Kid on September 23rd, 2010 12:18 pm

Another loss for Felix. Looks like the Cy Young will go to Robinson Cano this year!

I concur, Felix Day wasn’t the best time for MLB debuts.

Why? What were the regulars going to do differently?

  12. RoninX on September 23rd, 2010 1:03 pm

Thank god we locked up Felix before this season.

  13. davepaisley on September 23rd, 2010 1:30 pm

Hmm, it seems like today was the Mariners 2010 season in microcosm.

But then again, what game hasn’t been?

  14. bobaphat on September 23rd, 2010 1:33 pm

I hope Felix eggs the house of every batter on this team.

No doubt. But if you bother to listen to sports-talk radio in this market or read the comments to the local newspaper columns and blogs on Ichiro, you’d think he was hitting like, well, Jose Latifah, er Lopez.

The sidekick guy on KJR950’s morning drive show (Sandemeier) actually had the stones to proclaim Ichiro the “most overrated ballplayer in MLB.” Then he went on to make some incoherent argument about Ichiro’s salary, belying Sandemeier’s pose on KJR as their “baseball guy.”

But I guess all this has been done over on this blog before, to our chagrin.

    I hate this F’ing offense.

  17. G-Man on September 23rd, 2010 1:59 pm

    Offense? What offense?

  18. jephdood on September 23rd, 2010 2:13 pm

Felix is the fine marbled rye in a Mariner shit sandwich.

  19. pinball1973 on September 23rd, 2010 2:32 pm

Regrets to Felix. May you win the Cy Young despite the abysmal team you’ve just pitched your heart out for.

Congrats to Ichiro! on another 200-hit season, even though it must be depressing as hell to lead off knowing you have to be Snoopy to have any real chance of actually scoring.

  20. Carson on September 23rd, 2010 2:46 pm

    It sure is offensive.

  21. GoldenGutz on September 23rd, 2010 3:49 pm

Can we even score when Felix is on the mound. Literally this team ran out a AAA lineup today. All but three position players played in Tacoma this year and two of those players are playing at a AAA level this year.

  22. rcc on September 23rd, 2010 4:16 pm

How long is it before Felix tires of the level of support he is getting, and demands a trade? If he was pitching for the Yankees how many wins would he have? Twenty Five?

  23. samregens on September 23rd, 2010 4:49 pm

Regarding the timing of their debuts, I was a little harsh mouthed above, but at least for the rookies it could do no harm being present on the field as teammates for Ichiro’s accomplishment.

They could do a lot worse than trying to emulate Ichiro’s professionalism and dedication.

  24. John D. on September 23rd, 2010 5:22 pm

BTW: One swallow does not make a summer, but FYI, the prospects (including Saunders) went 2-15 today–and they struck out eight (8) times.

  25. Carson on September 23rd, 2010 5:30 pm

Bob Costas just listed WHIP as an advanced stat.

  26. Swungonandbelted on September 23rd, 2010 7:13 pm

Sweet, catching the game on the replay tonight… looks like there’s some love for Lopez in Toronto, nifty catch in the stands, good offensive output…maybe with any luck at all they all snuck out of the stadium and left him there?

  27. henryv on September 23rd, 2010 7:25 pm

Crispy Creme Sabathia got smoked tonight, in an important game.

Maybe he and Price will split the “moron” vote for the Cy Young, and Felix will win it.

  28. Carson on September 23rd, 2010 8:16 pm

According to Billy Ripkin, Ichiro “does a lot of things wrong.”

  29. B13a on September 23rd, 2010 8:46 pm

Billy Ripken also chose CC over Felix for the Cy Young in their debate, saying “I have to have to my wins.”

In other words, Billy Ripken should never get hired by any baseball team unless they want to lose.

  30. cjhenry on September 23rd, 2010 8:54 pm

Billy Ripkin sucked as a player and is living off the reputation of his brother. Why anyone would listen to that opportunist is beyond me. So let’s see, Billy Ripkin, Lifetime 247 hitter, 20 career homeruns total, in 12 years. Averaged 19 rbi per year. 674 lifetime mlb hits. Had a famous brother, talks constantly about the “Ripkin way” which obviously did not work for him.

So Billy boy, you know nothing.

  31. cjhenry on September 23rd, 2010 8:57 pm

And KJR guys will say anything at this point to create some buzz. They’ve been reduced to carrying “Tonight in Curling” .

  32. cjhenry on September 23rd, 2010 9:12 pm

This team is in so much trouble for next year. They’ve got nothing. You have the best pitcher in the game out there and you lose 1 to 0. That’s insane on the face of it. It’s criminal if they waste his career. I wonder if he’ll ever get pissed off enough to ask to be traded before his contract is up.

If I was playing for this team, I would, like Guti, have “flulike” symptoms.

They’re going to be terrible next year. I think we’ve been saying that since before 2010 started. Heck, it wouldn’t shock me if they lost 100 next year, too. But it will be a more productive 100 loss season than this one will be.

If I was playing for this team, I would, like Guti, have “flulike” symptoms.

Vomiting after seeing Lopez hitting 3rd doesn’t “technically” count as the flu.

Yeah, I must admit while I’ve tended to focus on Lopez when it comes to insults and snide comments – but with a few exceptions, this season’s suckage has been a team effort.

  35. Marinersmanjk on September 23rd, 2010 11:10 pm

Paul Silvi just said that Ichiro wasn’t worth the 18 million… It’s sad how even our sportscasters are idiots.

  36. Liam on September 24th, 2010 1:09 am

That’s not unreasonable. According to Fangraphs, his production has been worth $15.4M this year. In a 100 loss season, you could say that any player salary over the minimum probably wasn’t worth it.

  37. Marinerman1979 on September 24th, 2010 1:35 am

So far, this is my favorite felix article.

And wow is the Blue Jay bp coach a total douche.

  38. portugal on September 24th, 2010 8:33 am

WE SUCK, he have to rebuild!!!
Trade Ichiro (our best player position player and cashflow cow) to the yankees when he still has value as a player and financially. Lets get Montero, Romine and Banuelos:)

  39. dw on September 24th, 2010 10:12 am

The anti-Ichiro crowd is really out this year.

How much worse would the M’s be if they ran out Bradley and then Langerhans in RF this year? It’s a mess to extrapolate, honestly, but I can’t see how they would be any better.

Ichiro is also pretty untradeable. The M’s would not get Montero back for him, and they’d certainly be looking at paying most of his salary through 2011. You’d be looking at sending $7M to the Yankees for 2 or 3 second tier prospects, at which point he’ll hit .360 for the 2011 champion Yankees while the Seattle Times commenters fume about how the M’s should have never traded Ichiro.
