Game 2, Mariners At A’s

Vargas vs Anderson, 6:05 pm.
Haven’t seen a line-up for tonight as of posting time, but with a lefty on the hill for Oakland, I wouldn’t anticipate any changes. Anderson is their version of Felix, so the M’s are going to need some breaks to win tonight. A half dozen more errors by Oakland would be just fine with me.
HenryV-
He calls that slide “the grand slam” (ouch).
It looks like a baseball team that needs to buy a lottery ticket on the way out of Oakland. And also pick up the A’s tab at the bar.
So I can say the “Undefeated M’s” for another day…works for me.
2-0 whoo!
poordispatcher–
That would be:
“Your American League West leading, undefeated M’s!”
He did seem to lie there for a long time looking stunned.
So could we just be the lucky team this year. catch breaks with our own players but more importantly, catch teams on days when they just don’t care or unfocused? It seems to work pretty well agains the A’s so far
Jack Wilson – “If Beltre can take it, so can I.”
I am checking out all the blogs and tweets to get the instant reaction. It is very satisfying. Oakland radio said simply that Seattle outplayed them.
I think we shouldn’t let the A’s ineptitude keep us from realizing the M’s are averaging 9 1/2 hits a game. And that’s facing two of the better starters in the league. Goodbye 2010!
We’ve had entire weeks last year where we didn’t have 5+ runs, and 9+ hits… And that’s what we’re averaging this year so far. Only two days, sure. But I’ll take it.
What’s wrong with this picture:
Tim Lincecum (0-1, 0.00 ERA)
&
Chris Ray (1-0, 9.00 ERA)
I have to happily admit the M’s looked pretty smart today, like a team that could win.
And Guti isn’t in center yet.
I expect very, very little, so the team can feel free to amaze me and embarrass me into deep and heart-felt apologies for doubting them.
If we get the sweep, I think Eric Wedge owes Bob Geren a couple cases
Until we come back down to earth, I’m still crediting Dave Niehaus, betting on his good natured way of lobbying God for most of this good stuff. Thanks again, Dave!
If our team plays watchable baseball this year, I’ll be happy. And everything seems to be pointing in that direction.
BTW Cliff Lee struck out eleven guys tonight, and walked zero.
He’s amazing. I’m glad he’s in the NL.
Also, and again it’s only 2 games… BUT, it’s nice to see 5 of our starters hitting over .300 (Wilson, Smoak, Figgins, Suzuki, and Olivo)…
One of these things is not like the others…. Well, two, maybe.
One of these guys is not like the others,
One of these guys just isn’t the same,
Can you tell me which guy is not like the others,
Before we finish this game?
Already scoring runs….remember Gutierrez, Ackley on the way. Moore, Saunders can hit just need a little more time.
It’s no surprise that we are winning games. It’s just basic fundamental stuff that was missing last season. Moving the runner over on an out, sac flies, sac bunts, some hits with RISP, steals…we managed to do none of that last year.
Sorry, folks, but those scoring at home (obviously not in the A’s press box), score Ichiro’s last at bat as:
Fielder’s choice; E3t (throw)
F4 easily could have covered 1B for an Ichiro out. Not a single.
