Bedard vs Buehrle, 1:10 pm.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s reading this. Now that I live 3,000 miles from Seattle, I don’t get to see my Mom all that often – generally, once a year or so. It’s probably the worst part about living on the east coast. My mom is awesome. Love you, Mom.
Ichiro, RF
Rodriguez, 3B
Bradley, LF
Olivo, C
Smoak, 1B
Cust, DH

And Westie puts on his own pink wristband and heads to the door!
Totally agree with your mild ‘gestures’ rant, btw.
I’m surprised Bedard had that many pitches. Didn’t seem like he’d thrown that many.
Ok what’s the over under on Sims saying that Cust is “due” before he gets a home run and Sims passes out for being so excited? I say 200
I invoked the “take mom and wife to lunch on Saturday” ritual – a few years ago. No restaurant issues. No missing Saturday night or Sunday day game issues. No issues all around. They love it. I love it. Everyone wins. It took several years to refine this approach, but it works.
Cust hasn’t gotten that elusive HR yet, has he? Sims will lose consciousness, for sure.
I like how the narrative keeps changing to explain why. I believe they’ve been blaming the cool weather recently.
So the only time Saunders swings at a first pitch is to bunt. Jesus he needs to go back to Tacoma and get some work
Seriously I have never seen this much bad luck in a game for getting base hits. Geeze
Gawds, this team keeps getting snakebit this game.
But we’ve seen some interesting busting moves.
I don’t think it would have been possible for Saunders to get struck out on 3 pitches any quicker than he did … so there is that. However, the foul bunt air hang-time might have made the at bat last longer than it could have. Not sure, I will have to run some numbers.
Saunders has about as much business hitting against a good left-hander as Miguel Olivo has in hitting 4th against a good right hander. Probably, less. Not sure … I will have to run some more numbers.
Leadoff walk … uh oh, me thinks
Dunn groundout to change places with Ramirez at first – I will take it! No SB threat here. DP time.
Why would they try to pick Dunn off of first? STUPID FUCKING BASEBALL PLAY! You have got to be fucking kidding me! Dumbass!
What’s the point of throwing to Adam Dunn???? The guy is 300lbs and what’s the last time he stole a base??????? Seriously!
Wright is looking closely at 2nd base. For what? Dunn steals 3rd?
… and they pitched to Konerko with a base empty. Huh, I wonder if this movie is going to end any better than the others I have seen.
I guess they had a strategy. Wiggle off the hook with runner on 1st and 3rd DP. Stupid freaking baseball … but I will take the lucky break.
Hold them in the top of the 9th, and then we need a Smoak Bomb
Can anybody say Walk-off Smoak Bomb?
Lets hope….
This guy provides the power (Santos). All Smaok has to do is square one up.
Extra-inning Smoak bomb?
Crusty Custy up to bat.
Just thought of a nick-name for him for if he ever goes to Texas. Walker, Texas Ranger. ๐
Walker!
And…. Ballgame.
ffffffffff-
I blame Bradley for the fact that this is even in extra innings.
I bought Gameday Audio and yet I’m listening to the Chicago broadcasters. I also couldn’t watch that free MLBtv.com Mariners game yesterday. What’s up with this?
This team just can’t score enough runs. Flat out. There are TOO many players STARTING that wouldn’t even be on a ML roster otherwise.
Don’t worry. Given 15 innings we can score 2 runs easy and get this win.
When pitchers don’t walk the M’s, the M’s tend to suck on offense.
Are we taking a lot of pitches today? I haven’t been tracking that.
Probably hoping for free passes is not a viable strategy with a guy like Buehrle.
As jephdood posted, there are just too many crappy hitters in the line-up/on the roster.
Asides of Smoak and Ichiro this line-up is terrible.
So once Smoak cools down we’re in trouble. Ichiro has some ups and downs, but day in and day out he’s probably the most dependable player on the planet. But we need more than one productive guy out of nine.
Searching for the small good things, it looks like Ryan is coming around a little after that 0 for 21 slump. A couple more hitters at least, need to get hot. But guys like Saunders have never had a history of being able to even slightly hit major league pitching so we can’t really count on them. Hmmm.
(And the guys with some history like Bradley, Cust, Figgins, Olivo look to really be “history” as far as their hitting goes. Hmmm.)
Ooh, sound like I was fortunate not to see this one through to the end. ๐
