Nice to see the M’s play well, but the congratulations of the day go to contributor Marc W, whose wife gave birth to a (presumably) beautiful baby girl last night. Naming suggestions are now being taken – you can certainly do better than his initial response…

Angels finally lost!
What an awful way for them to lose. The Braves runner that eventually scored hit a grounder to Aybar (I think) who kicked it into left and proceeded to walk slowly to get it, allowing the runner to reach second.
In other news, the 3.3% that separate first and last in the ALW is by far the closest margin of all the divisions.
Anyone know how long Hamilton and Cruz are staying on rehab assignment?
Buster Olney seems to believe we can command a hitting prospect for Bedard alone…if he keeps this up. I’d link it, but the article is ESPN Insider.
I would like to say: in 45 games, these guys have given me more viewing pleasure than what all of last year was good for. Who else thinks that?
God, we didn’t even seem to have a pulse as a team for about 3/5 of 2010…
I admit I was “here we go again” with the first 20 games or so…but this squad has proven to be so much more watchable than that 2010 team was, even in “arrrrgh” losses.
Unfortunately watching Peguero play left is… an adventure. Whatever you may (or may not) be gaining with his bat, you’re likely giving back with his fielding.
Wilson gives indications of being interesting, though; but I want to see more of him before making up my mind on his fielding.
Son of Zavras sez:
Count me in. My wife doesn’t understand why I jump around and say things like “Yeah!” and “Aggghh!” this season, when last season I slouched around saying things like “Eh.” and “Who gives a crap?”
I also find it amusing to see the comments on ESPN’s game thread talking excitedly about how the M’s just need to get Prince Fielder and we’ll win the AL west and everybody’ll get free fish and chips and a jet plane and everything!
It’s fun to watch (or listen to) fun baseball. It’s pretty much that simple, at least for me.
Yeah, and every time I hear something like this? It makes me wanna do a hard face-palm…on a face that isn’t mine!
No Prince Fielder. Please. Fortunately, I don’t think Jack Z is hell-bent on getting the guy at all.
And me as well. With Guti back, and Bradley gone, and the kids up playing left field, it’s actually interesting to watch this team most of the time. And the starting pitching, top to bottom, is a pleasure to watch. When was the last time we didn’t bring out at least one starter who was cringeworthy? 2003?
Free fish and chips? Count me in!
Seriously, this can be a frustrating team to watch – but it is still fun, and I’ve never experienced the hopeless feeling I felt so often during games last year.
