Game 57, Mariners at Angels
Vargas vs. Santana, 7:05 pm PDT
Gosh, there’s some baseball on today, isn’t there? On the TV and the radio and everything.
RF Ichiro!
2B Ackley
3B Seager
1B Smoak
DH Jaso
LF Carp
C Olivo
CF Saunders
SS Kawasaki
With a right-hander on the mound, the Mariners are going with their lefty-heavy lineup. One might prefer Montero considering he’s had multiple hits in four of his last six games, but Olivo is still around and he hit the dinger yesterday. Let Zunino’s being drafted serve as a reminder that the sun will soon set on the second Miguel Olivo Era.
Smoakamotive won AL Player of the Week. I hope he continues to chug along.

Bartender serving up a victory!!!
Wilhelmsen is nails with that curveball.
When he isn’t nailing a batter with it, anyway. 😉
Mariners win!
Seager on pace for approximately 48 doubles and 21 homers this season. No real reason to believe he wont end up being close to it at seasons end.
Sweet!
I hope Seager gets an at-bat at the All-Star Game
Agreed, Mike – Seager certainly seems to be better than many of us expected him to be.
Speaking of the all star game … Who would be the mariners rep if Felix isn’t healthy?
Many of you likely know, but I just learned that ZUnino’s dad is a pro scout. There is no way there will be signability issues. He is a lock – and soon me thinks. I hope they place him anywhere other than high desert.
Right now it would be Luetge. 20 appearances 0.00 era. Never mind those FIP xFIP things they don’t count for All-Star stats.
I’m not sure Felix’s stats are All-Star worthy right now.
I was thinking Luetge, with Smoak, Ackley and Ichiro being long shots…
Luetge is most deserving, followed by Seager. Seager of course won’t get it unless he is taken as an alternate because his competition includes Cabrera and Beltre. Smoak, Ackley and Ichiro won’t happen.
