Funky Fresh Baseball Themed Podcast with Jeff and Matthew
Matthew Carruth · June 7, 2013 at 12:49 am · Filed Under Mariners
Jeff was free again and Jay was otherwise occupied so we went back to the normal format of Jeff and myself swapping whatever Mariners and baseball stuff come to mind. Our apologies for the lack of focus in this edition, we sort of running low on specific targets so instead tried a more scatter shot approach.

2013 Raul Ibanez is doing his best 2009 Ken Griffey Jr. impression.
Just yesterday I was thinking “hmm, we haven’t had a podcast in a while…”
Thanks guys! I look forward to listening to it on the way home tonight.
I’m not saying this to be mean – though I’m sure you’ll rant about this comment later, but has anyone commented that you 2 sounds like Beavis & Butthead?
I love these podcasts.
Re: Guti, being married to somebody with Crohn’s disease, I really think his assorted health issues and the stomach thing are all related.
Crohn’s/colitis are funky auto-immune diseases, and whereas the digestive system stuff is the most dangerous (since can keep you from getting the nourishment needed to be healthy), folks with these diseases tend to have to deal with other immune system funkiness, which can absolutely include muscular-skeletal and healing issues (they aren’t that far removed from rheumatoid arthritis, for example — and in fact are often treated with the same immune-system targeted treatments).
I would not be surprised at all if Guti’s injury proneness and his former stomach-related issues are all related (not so much in a causal way, but in a related root-cause sort of way).
Thanks, guys. Good show.
Can’t believe you guys don’t remember Dave Dravecky. That pitch is one of the handful of terrifyingly awful sports plays forever etched in my memory.
The Marlins should get some extra draft love? Why should Jeffery Loria and his stepson get rewarded for their behavior?
I was under the impression that the deal with Nick Franklin wasn’t that he got “fat,” but rather bulked up very quickly and built a ton of muscle using a high calorie diet and intensive weight training program. Most of that gain was supposedly concentrated in his lower body. That’s what I remember from the Seattle Times reporters.
Hooray! Podcast! Family love Podcast!
