Mariners to Retain Jack Zduriencik

Here’s my off-season guesses, now that the organization is going forward with the status quo: Ted Simmons moves from front office to take over as manager on a one year contract, the Mariners re-sign Kendrys Morales for far too much money, Raul Ibanez is back as your starting left fielder again, and they throw a crazy amount of money at Jacoby Ellsbury and Ervin Santana. And then they finally reboot next year when it all doesn’t work.

I would hope that this is indicating that there’s something going on behind the scenes where a new owner is going to be coming in, and they want to maintain the status quo so in a few months or a year, a new ownership/ executive team can select their own personnel.
Otherwise, I just don’t see where Jack Z. (for as nice of a guy as he is) has shown that he’s capable of putting together a MLB roster. We haven’t seen offensive production from this team since he’s been here. Even his “successes” for the most part would be marginal players if they were on other MLB teams…

Other than bro hugs and fist bumps, I strongly doubt much of any actual consequence goes on behind the scenes in this front office.
