Happy Felix Day.
Though, given how the team’s offense has been performing lately, this may be the least optimistic the fanbase has been heading into a Felix start, well, ever. Considering that Jered Weaver is a pound-the-strikezone guy whose fatal flaw is giving up home runs, there probably couldn’t be a more perfect team for him to face – a patient, no power bunch of guys who rely on walks and singles to string together rallies. Weaver doesn’t give up many of either, so, yeah, I’m not optimistic about tonight.

Wow. Just wow. I really wanted to go to a game this weekend, too…
I enjoyed the ’95 season as much as anyone.
But seriously, it was FIFTEEN YEARS AGO and they didn’t even make it to the World Series.
How badly do the Mariners need to create some real history?
I need to root for a 3-game series of blowouts for the Angels. I think it would mean they HAVE to do something to shake things up (hint: Bye bye Sweeney).
At this point, one hitter the offense does not make.
They need 4 or 5 guys to start hitting, AND jettison the two Mooses currently on the 25-man.
You know, seriously, while I’m not advocating for it, you have to wonder when speculation about Wakamatsu’s job is going to start.
High expectations + losing + low attendance + a downward spiral = bad things for the manager.
Ichiro and Guti are the only ones with a batting average above .216
Too bad Felix didn’t get those low strikes called…the umping has been attrocious.
Weaver, you REALLY don’t want to plunk a Mariner tonight. There would be a lot of aggression coming out of that dugout (Wak would watch from the top step).
Boy, when Colome outpitches Felix, you know you are in trouble.
At least our DH got a hit. The only one so far.
Saunders’ line in Tacoma was BA .200, OBP .293, Slugging .213 (there’s a fearsome stat for you). And this is the best guy they have to bring up to start in left? Very sad.

Why dont the M’s just concede the game, go home and come back tomorrow for televised BP? At least there they will be able to get some hits.
I would like to see the statistics of the Mariners in innings where they have runners on 2nd and 3rd (including bases loaded situations) with 1 out or less.
The best way to keep the mariners from scoring is to put runners on second and third…or just about anything else prevents them from scoring too.
I know this is not the time for me to try to find a positive. Because let’s be honest, this totally sucks. But one thing I have noticed, in the last two games Griffey has hit the ball a lot harder than he has been the rest of the season. Yesterday he had a ground rule double and 2 flyouts to the warning track. Today, even though he has had one ground out, he has a very well hit single and a flyout to center. At least it isnt just ground balls to the right side… Maybe he will heat up a tiny bit.
