Hernandez vs Lilly, 12:40 pm.
Happy Felix Day.
Good to see Saunders in there today against a lefty. His home run off Sean Marshall last night was impressive not just for where he hit it, but who he it off – Marshall is one of the best LH relievers in baseball, and Saunders has been generally hopeless against southpaws as a big leaguer. The experience of playing everyday, regardless of what hand the pitcher throws with, should be good for him.
Ichiro, RF
Figgins, 2B
Sweeney, DH
Lopez, 3B
Gutierrez, CF
Josh Wilson, 1B
Johnson, C
Jack Wilson, SS
Saunders, LF
At least our bullpen is fresh.
So Alfonzo has 1 homer and 4 RBI’s at the moment. Didn’t he get all of that in his first game? Wow, our catchers can’t hit for crap…
No kidding. I was hoping Loafie would bunt just to stay out of the DP, but after he struck out I was actually pissed to see the double steal, cause I knew that Guti was our best hope and they would walk him…
No worries. Bard is almost ready to come back. He can hit.
Can we please play the NL for the rest of the year?
To the 12th and counting… Tennis anyone?
$50 says Wak will leave League in too long and he’ll eventually get racked…
or, Wak brings in Garret Olson, who gets lit up.
Oh man Saunders is killing me. I mean is there anything that explains his streakiness or is it just a rookie adjusting to MLB pitching? I think he showed a lot hitting a lefty breaking ball 386 feet for the HR.
I’m just hoping this is him being a rookie and when he has more time in MLB he won’t have a 2-3 night then lay a goose egg.
NOOOOOO not White, literally anyone but White
Or gets replaced by Sean White, because he’s such a huge improvement.
Usually I like being right.
Damnit.
This reminds me of the Texas game back in the beginning of the season. M’s should have won several times in extra innings, but thanks to Eric Byrnes and Mike Sweeney, they lost. Giant losing streak followed…
WAY too many chances to win that game. WTF. Give me a Cliff Lee trade soon.
I feel bad for Felix.
I am sad to say that this sounds good to me. 🙁
I hate regression to the mean!
The bats choked, but Sean White is awful. He should be cut.
Shocking to see Olsen walk the leadoff hitter/go-ahead run and Sean White not hold the Cubs in check. SHOCKING!
Apparently, the experiment to petrify Cordero’s and Sweeney’s arms in place (from lack of use) is alive and well.
Too few sticks, too much lack of power and too much lack of clutch hitting. Constant theme throughout the year.
Other than the bat speed still existing, I am not seeing what you are seeing coach … but I did miss one of his AB’s yesterday; so this one missed AB must have been when said “smoking” occurred over his last several games after his most recent mini flash hot streak. As we both know – when your players get inside their own head, they are not going to perform. He is guessing … and unless it is a mistake pitch – he isn’t going to do much with it. He has shown a fairly sustained lack of performance (for a #3 – #5 hitter … come on!) – throughout all of last year – and for all of this season – vice the occasional flash.
Today’s game: A timely reminder that we suck.
I turned off the TV as soon as Olson came in.
I went to the game today and what caught me by surprise was the top of the 7th when they called that a wild pitch. Dan Wilson stops that ball, and so do a whole bunch of other catchers. I have not seen a replay, but watching that guy RJ catch is painful. It is like he is in quicksand. Being at the game and watching these guys my impressions were that Jack Wilson looks old, Sweeney irritates me, I don’t know why, he just does, Figgins needs a sports therapist or something, talk about opportunity lost, Lopez looks good at third but not batting fourth, Guti is flippin’ FAST, reminds me of some young guy in the 90’s at the Kingdome. Felix is awesome, Safeco is awesome and I hope we can trade Lee for a ten year starter, either a good bat or a catcher or both.
Actually, I turned the radio to KJR as soon as the Paperboy and Alfonzo screwed up that bases-loaded opportunity, since I already knew exactly what was coming at that point.
I was at the game.
I don’t want to talk about all Cubs fans, but the ones that chose to attend this game really blow.
Ob-NOXIOUS.
And the umpire was playing tic-tac-toe with his strike zone. Lilly got a good 2 inches more of the outside part of the plate than what Felix did.
Jerk.
Wow. I’m glad I was too busy to watch any part of the game. Sounds like the M’s were redundantly impotent……well here is to hoping for some offense in exchange for our beloved Cliff Lee. Jack Z must know that the M’s are done for the season, and now he must open up negotiations for Lee. He may be able to squeeze a little more out of the deal if the other team gets a few extra starts by Lee. Make it happen Big Z!
