Game 86, Mariners at Athletics

Happy Felix Evening!
Felix vs. the enigmatic Trevor Cahill.

Of note: Ichiro gets one of his rare DH starts, with Halman playing RF. Olivo’s back, so this line-up is pretty much as powerful a group as the M’s are able to muster.

Lineup:
1: Ichiro! (DH)
2: Ryan
3: Kennedy
4: Smoak
5: Ackley
6: Olivo
7: Peguero (LF)
8: Gutierrez (CF)
9: Halman (RF)

Sorry for the lateness of the post…after my commute, I could really use a beer. Let’s go Mariners!

With Ichiro DH’ing could we have subbed Figgins in for Peggy as a defensive sub? I know he has outfield experience in his career. Time to start using him as a poor man’s Willie Bloomquist.

Wouldn’t this be the definition of a rich man’s Willie Bloomquist?

Also, Chone has shown over the last couple years that his defensive skills apparently have fallen off the table.

The more I think about him, the more I think that he is a guy who was absolutely driven to be the best because no one thought he was. And now that he’s been told he’s good with the massive contract, he doesn’t have it in him. At the plate or at in the field.

Also, the last time he played left field was 2006.

Oh, and the King’s Court presence down there in Oakland – though it was small – was awesome!

It’s always interesting to wake up, get your chores done, then turn on Root Sports. To see a food show featuring the “You’ll come again” casino.
