Game 104, Mariners at Yankees
Happy Felix Morning! The King takes on Phil Hughes at ersatz Yankee stadium this morning at 10:05 PDT.
The line-up:
1: Ichiro
2: Ryan
3: Ackley
4: Smoak
5: Kennedy
6: Carp
7: Gutierrez
8: Cust
9: Bard
Be interesting, Mariners!
The Jackson Generals are already underway against Chattanooga; their media manager Chris Harris reports that the two teams had a bench-clearing near brawl last night (when the teams come out of the dugouts and attempt to look unified and menacing).
The Tacoma Rainiers are also playing an early game – an 11:35 start against Sacramento with Anthony Vazquez taking the ball.

People, if you see a traffic helicopter reporting on a large backup downtown, fear not: it’s just me leading my one-man parade down Fourth Avenue. Mariners win! Woo hoo!
Cue Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration”!

Great to see Carp make some solid contact. Also great to see the Yankees fumble around on defense.
FINALLY! AMAZING! Thanks for the link, sank.
All bad things…
This must be how it feels to win the World Series! WOOOOOOO!!!!
I realize that you probably want to be elevated above the level of merely being a “Prince” of reverse mojo, Westy … but I cannot do it. You are still only a Prince.
Keep up the good work.
Pro-Batter pitching machine
I watched a trio of Seattle-area pro’s do cage time with one of these machines this past winter; so yes, they’re around.
It seems amazing to me that no team sees the utility in having their batters face actual quality pitches during BP
Because pregame BP is for grooving swings and working the ball to all fields from within the strike zone. The type of stuff you’re talking about (practice hitting variable pitching) occurs in the off- and pre-seasons.
In other news, Edwin Jackson and Corey Patterson got traded for Colby Rasmus. You mean to tell me that there was no way that JZ could have beat that pathetic offer?
I think the comp to this would have been our #3 starter who is actually better than the #3 starter we have … plus a veteran outfielder with speed and a little pop … which would also be better than what we have to offer.
I get your point, it is not an overwhelming package that was provided in order to acquire Colby Rasmus, but it looks like the Cardinals wanted major league ready players and how many of those do we actually have – that we could part with that meet the big arm/good speed description.
If Bedard had been healthy and reliable based on his past health history, I think he could have been the comp or comp + for Jackson. The outfielder with speed would have to have been … ummm …. hmmm… uhhh … I guess we could have traded Figgy and his speed and the fact that he can stand in the outfied and do a somewhat respectable job – as the comp to Patterson; but the Cardinals are not dumb enough to bite on that contract, his attitude or his rampantly rapid statistical decline.
Vargas, Saunders, and…. Beavan? Would have been more of enough to package for Rasmus. Once more, we would not have been mortgageing the future, unless Saunders decides to become the second coming of Mike Morse, which with our luck is exactly what would happen
Sorry guys Jagerbombs will have to wait for the next prolonger losing streak…
My pub is called Deweys Pub and Grill in Cranbrook, BC Canada…if you’re ever in the area stop in.
Maybe you are right. I am not sure how we could ever know for sure, but I doubt very much that Jack was not working the phones. Jackson has a big arm and Patterson has a lot of speed, and a tiny, soon to be expiring contract. Maybe the Cardinals really like Jackson’s arm and perhaps Duncan can fix him and work more magic with him(in their minds) than with a Vargas type.
