With the M’s off tonight, why not check in on the Tacoma Rainiers and rehabbing CF Franklin Gutierrez? Brian Sweeney gets the start for Tacoma vs. Salt Lake, who are starting ex-Mariner David Pauley. So if I understood something Marc said in one of the draft day threads – a guy like Peguero, who’s been up to the big leagues, actually will make an okay living in minor-league ball. Is that correct?
If so, I don’t feel so bad wishing for him to stay down in AAA for the rest of his career.
Brian Sweeney is still pitching? As in, hasn’t moved on to something else in his life?
The moment I went to gameday and it finished loading, the first thing gameday updated with was a strikeout on Peguero. Figures.
Only one strikeout so far for Peggy, Mariners35 – the night is still young.

That’s yet another benefit of Condor’s resurgence – it makes it less likely we’ll see Peguero with the big club.
So, I do like Brendan Ryan and all but… any chance of seeing Triunfel a little further north by the end of the year? By which I do not mean the Everett AquaSox.
Triunfel started well but he’s in a nasty slump right now. It can’t be long before Franklin passes him on the organizational SS depth chart.

Well yeah. I just guess I should have said on the organizational ladder. IOW, Franklin will be the SS Tacoma and Triunfel will be moving off or at least yielding temporarily until Franklin hits the bigs.
What’s going to happen to Adam Moore? Assuming he can stay healthy for several days at a time, does he replace Olivo later in the year? Is next year, Jaso/Moore sharing time at catcher with Montero at DH?
If you were the Mariners, would you be treating Moore as anything other than organizational fodder at this point? He’s no longer young, he’s had less than 150 at-bats in the last 2 seasons at any level combined, and although he’s played well in the minor leagues he didn’t hit at all during his time in the majors.
I guess that still makes him a better bet than Olivo but only because everything not named Rob Johnson is a better bet than Olivo.
So he’s like Michael Morse? But I understand what you’re saying. He’s never had a ton of time in the majors though and he hit well in AAA. They’ve always been hot on him so I’ll be curious to see what they do if he stays healthy for a month or so and hits 300+ in Tacoma.
Some guys are late bloomers as the aforementioned Morse. As long as he’s hitting in the minors they will keep giving him an opportunity to prove himself.
I always liked Adam Moore, and wish things had gone better for him. But would you put any stock in a 28-year-old catching “prospect” who’s had significant leg injuries the past two years?
Don’t forget – Moore is less than a year younger than Jaso.
