Game 150, Orioles at Mariners

King Felix vs. Joe Saunders, 7:10pm

Ok, admit it: who here predicted that Joe Saunders would be an “important trade deadline acquisition” in 2012? By the Orioles?

Felix could use a solid game after a couple of comparative clunkers.

Saunders is a lefty, so that explains Wells reappearance as well as Olivo “DH”ing.
The line-up:
1: Ackley
2: Gutierrez
3: Seager
4: Montero (C)
5: Smoak
6: Saunders
7: Olivo (DH)
8: Wells
9: Ryan
SP: El Rey

Okay I’ll give up on the nick I proposed if we can really call Figgins “Mr. 85 MPH fastball straight down the middle”.

Crap, right now I blame Wedge for the lack of a win that inning.

  2. bookbook on September 19th, 2012 9:59 pm

    Fair deal

Figgins is allergic to 85 mph fastballs down the middle:

This line made me smile. Nicely done.

Guti may drive in the winning run, but it takes some effort to manage a game more poorly than Eric Wedge. Does he know anything about his team at all? 0-17 w/risp…you do not waste an out with a bunt, especially with the batter ahead 2-0. And Olivo clearly does not care to bunt nor does he know how. Carp vs. Matusz is called getting out managed. Hitting Robinson for Wells makes no sense, really. It is embarrassing. Did I miss an appearance earlier by Jaso? If not, he was clearly the best choice for an AB in that poor excuse for an inning. If Wedge does not have an undiagnosed brain tumor, he is perhaps the biggest buffoon to manage this team since Maury Wills, who intentionally threw at his own son.

Our pen could use the extra work, anyway.

  6. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:08 pm

    Hehehe Mike.

I can imagine what 50%-75% of the words are out there in the ‘pen right now.

  7. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:11 pm

    Ugh.

  8. msfanmike on September 19th, 2012 10:11 pm

Yay, friendly fire! I still love Bill Bavasi.

  9. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:14 pm

Oh man, I hope Monty’s throat is okay.

  10. G-Man on September 19th, 2012 10:15 pm

Montero closes his eyes when there’s a swing.

  11. msfanmike on September 19th, 2012 10:21 pm

29 straight innings of closely contested games, and Jaso has yet to get an at bat. Yeah, that’s just stupid.

  12. msfanmike on September 19th, 2012 10:22 pm

Smoak is super clutch. And fast.

  13. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:22 pm

They can just walk Saunders without repercussions, really.

WHAT?? I just saw Jaso holding a bat! Wedge has a sudden outbreak of common sense!

  14. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:24 pm

    Oh Condor. That was dumb.

  15. Bremerton guy on September 19th, 2012 10:26 pm

    Wow. Whose idea was that?

  16. msfanmike on September 19th, 2012 10:26 pm

    Oh my God!

There are not enough WTF letters in the world to describe the ending to that game. Pure horseshit.

Terrible, putrid, obnoxious … Yet surprisingly filling.

Go eat another bag, Wedge. You earned it.

  17. Breadbaker on September 19th, 2012 10:26 pm

So we can’t have him steal in a tie game without trying the bunt first (because we have to keep bunting until we get it right!) but he can steal to END THE GAME?

  18. Westside guy on September 19th, 2012 10:27 pm

Well, we’re going to go visit some friends tomorrow – so I hope you guys get to see some nice, quick, 9-inning games tomorrow and Friday.

Me, I think I’m looking forward to an excused absence from a couple games.

  19. vetted_coach on September 19th, 2012 10:31 pm

Nice, Wedge. Compound your stupidity by taking the bat out of Jaso’s hands. Guy never got a swing. New limits for dumb.

And does anybody on the broadcast crew have an ounce of intellectual honesty? These guys watch night after night of stupid, and duh their way through their analysis like a couple of mules.

Any other mlb broadcast crew would be embarrassed to ignore this kind of abject stupidity without some sliver of honest critique.

Anyone else think Buck walks Jaso if Saunders is safe. I know it’s putting the winning run on and setting up a situation where Johnson can potentially walk in the winning run but..Jaso with two in scoring position or Trayvon and Muni or pinch hitter if Trayvon gets a hit. I’d rather face Trayvon and Muni/Pinch hitter. What do you guys think?

I want a whole new fucking team. Seriously.. when was the last time the Mariners had a legit offense? Pitching and defense can suck it.

  23. stevemotivateir on September 21st, 2012 7:38 pm

So, it’s Friday night, the game’s on, and nobody’s around? Was the game the other night THAT flattening?! Glad I missed it! Still hopeful for a game-thread tonight.

  24. stevemotivateir on September 21st, 2012 7:41 pm

Holly crap, you’re all missing history! Smoak just hit a DOUBLE!!! That’s more rare than a walk!

  25. stevemotivateir on September 21st, 2012 7:49 pm

Another rarity… Wells gets a start. He just ripped a double, scoring Smoak. Saunders to third. Fun game so far 🙂

  26. msfanmike on September 21st, 2012 8:37 pm

Uh-oh … Wells has two hits in two AB’s. It means he is probably going to have to sit for the next few games or until there is an updated game thread – whichever comes first.

  27. stevemotivateir on September 21st, 2012 8:45 pm

    The off-season will come first!
